No kidding. This could have been much worse.

it's too bad they had to see it.

(yes, just that they had to see it)

Braincase 06-29-2009 12:32 PM

That's terrible. Prayers to the kids and surviving members of the family.

Not to be a dick, but how do we know that he didn't mean to grab that gun? It's not like you could ask him if he screwed up and grabbed the wrong one...

...just sayin'. There's a good chance that he DID mean to off himself...

Kinda my thought. There's really no way of telling.

Guy is (was) a dickhead that would've done far more damage long-term than this had he not offed himself. Take steps to mitigate the damage, count your blessings and move on.

This is likely a good thing for all remaining parties.

Only bad part to this story was the kids... Sucks for them.

Tape this to the casket at his funeral.

Wait... did he do it in front of them or waited until the kids left. Did he do it when the family returned or what?

WHEN did he do it?

ROFL

Wow. He was a piece of work. I feel so sorry for the kids. I hope they can get therapy. Financially, he is worth more dead than alive. Your sister should get SSI for them.

Pioli Zombie 06-29-2009 02:04 PM

Those poor kids. I feel for them.

This connects to Big Richards thread. There is and was NOTHING the family could have done. It was HIS disease. Someone will need to pound this into the kids heads over and over, and your sister too.

Damn shame for the kids. :shake:

IF ANY OF YOU KNOW SOMEONE IN THIS SIMILAR SITUATION, FIND THE STRENGTH TO GET THEM HELP.

(This has nothing spoken about you, Angelo. I see news stories like this all the time, it rips me up, and I wonder "Why are they showing this?" the only reason I can find some good result is to figure people might see a pending situation of their own or someone they know. My friend's dad died, and it made me spend more time with my dad.

WHEN did he do it?

If I read it right, it sounds like the children weren't there at the time, that someone took them elsewhere right before it happened.

I certainly hope that is the case.

The had already been taken out of the home.

They are on the cusp of being teenagers.

I am trying to be there for them, but I have always been the disciplinarian. Their father and I obviously did not get along and they knew it. I have spent time with both every day since sometimes just sitting in silence.

I want to thank everyone for their kindness.
