Well, that's a ridiculous fee for the service.

I sure as hell wouldn't expect anyone to pay a tip after that.

But then, most people don't tip anyway, so what the hell difference does it make?

Where I worked, delivery was free.

Of course, that was 25 years ago, and that place is long since out of business.

That way, you can tip as much or little as you like without fear of being labeled a cheapskate if you thought the service stank. Right now, the challenge is that any tip below 20 percent means that you can never visit the establishment again without fear of worse service or even reprisal. Because of tipping, I will just tip 20 percent across the board and then not go back to restaurants where I got bad service. Therefore, the restaurant owner gets punished and the server just gets a communistic 20 percent that is fueled by societal pressure.

If I get bad service I don't tip, and make sur the server is aware that I'm not cheap, they just suck.

Yeah, but that doesn't work for me, because I need approval from everybody.

The restaurant owner deserves to be punished if his/her employees are giving shitty service.

I disagree. In England, they decided that the tip should be just rolled into the bill regardless of service, so they created some tax to cover it. As most intelligent people predicted, for some weird reason, the quality of service got worse.

This is the truth. The service there is uniformly poor.

You should all tell the salesperson that you will buy the item if they deliver it for free. Never had an issue getting the delivery charge dropped.

I call the company and tell them they did a great job. Money is a temporary thing. Praise for doing the job right = job security, and these days that is priceless.
