He had a great game.

We have had 4 or 5 guys IMO that have stepped up in the past few weeks that seem to be eliminating the immediate need for replacement in the draft next April.

Chambers at WR
Long at WR
Charles at RB
Studebaker at OLB
Belcher at MLB

No. Lost. Out of pos. Missed a ton of tackles. As usual. DJ is the last of the missed tackle gang. Mike Brown is going to be replaced, and he came in later, but Wesley, Pollard, and DJ being gone are all good things, I believe, but I still say they should try to turn DJ into a pass rush specialist. He's quick, fast, and is good at GOING AROUND blockers. I don't think he would be that great, but it's worth a try, and if we could rack up some sacks for him, we may be able to get something for him, or find a new job/spot for him.

I still think STUDebaker, and Belcher are nothing more than serviceable backups, which is OK I guess, but upgrades are badly needed.

Charles has been doing OK at running back, but do you think he is a grind it out kind of guy when we need to run the clock? Or an especially good goal line back? Obviuosly that situation hasn't presented itself this season but I don't really think he is either.

Not only that, but the depth at RB is pretty thin IMO. I don't think a high pick is warranted, but it would hurt to take a goal-line/move the chains type guy.

Oh, I'm sure we'll draft a RB or 2, but just not early.

Good teams never eliminate the need for drafting replacements. That doesn't mean that you have to take those positions high in the draft....but you shouldn't just eliminate them from the draft either. We still need a WR and we still need LBs.

EASILY, the most under-rated aspect of this year's defense. I can't remember seeing so many batted balls since the Marty-era. I absolutely love it and see this as one of the subtle signs of improvement.

I don't hate our current crop, but we DO have a poor-man's version of Dallas' trio. Of course, Barber, Jones and Choice are superior to Charles, Smith and Savage. However, I think we can get away with this until we absolutely need to upgrade. I actually think Charles could be pretty above-average if our o-line gets fixed in the next year or two.

The myth of Brian Waters. His "talent" always escaped my notice...maybe because he played next to a hall-of-famer for most of his career. Funny how his play has declined since Roaf has been gone.

I think the appropriate thing to do is weigh it out over time. There is still alot of football left to be played. So it's a wait and see sort of thing how some of these guys will pan out over time. It could change the teams plans as to what they will draft in April? We'll see.

Im happy they're giving guys like Studebaker, Belcher, and Long chances. This is the positive of being a crappy team. Play several guys throughout your roster to see what you have. If you're gonna be crap, at least get a feel for your roster? And the greatest thing is, they have nothing to lose in the process. I give this current regime some credit for that.

I think he meant the one where DJ was off the ground with the fullback sandwiched in between him and Big Ben. There was a 5 yard penalty for something then, but they never announced what it was.
