With Weis as an OC, in today's NFL that so heavily favors passers, those #s will be what it will take for me to accept Matt Cassel as our starting QB. That makes him right on the fringe of a top 10 QB. I can live with that.

Cassel should, eventually, have better numbers than he had in NE. "Should" being the operative word. Any takers?

These

He better get better or we're ****ed simply put, now do I expect it, that's a different story.

Sounds a lot like the dude from the Raiders. Had one good drive against the Chiefs to beat us. Other than that FAIL. Pretty much what we saw out of Cassel all season long as well.

Hope like hell Clausen lasts until #5 and don't look back.

I want him to be a top 10 quarterback, those are the #s commensurate with a top 10 QB. The question asked what it would take for me to be a fan of Matt Cassel. I think asking him to be in the top 1/3 of the league is hardly unreasonable.

So yes, those are the numbers that will take me to be a fan of his.

Now as to your question - do I "expect" him to do that? Oh hell no, I expect him to once again suck because he is, in fact, a lousy quarterback.

So using the good ol' transitive property, I think it's fair to say that I don't expect to be purchasing a Matt Cassel jersey next season.

If money were no object, would you draft a QB at #4 if you were GM?

Yes, but we pick #5.

If I were taking the job now?

99% sure I would.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I saw things he did good along with the bad. Trent Green started out not doing well, he had reasons. First year back after a knee operation and adapting to a new team and surrounding cast. Cassel has some adjusting to do as well as the Chiefs have their work cut out for them in getting a better surrounding cast.

I don't expect the playoffs next season, but it would be nice for them to get there. In the near future I want to be able to go the full season and deep into the playoffs before I hear the old catch phrase in KC, "There's always next year!" It seems for 3 years we've been hearing that phrase before mid season.

Chiefnj2 01-11-2010 08:06 PM

I expect Weis to improve the playcalling, work on Cassel's mechanics, and reduce the # of sacks. It's hard to guess at a completion % or # of TDs/INTs with the worthless receiving corps.

Exactly
I WANT him to do well . Doesn't mean I am betting mortgage on it. He should be a top 10 qb and that is the standard I will hold him to next year.Giving 2 years isn't being impatient yet enough time to know if it's ever gonna happen.

The play calling the last couple of games was actually pretty darn good. Good mix of Charles and the play action pass.

Mecca 01-11-2010 08:11 PM

I'm not sure how playcalling is going to make Cassel more accurate down the field, unless we're going to throw tons of screens and swing passes.

Actually next year would his 3rd year as the starter(including NE), and thus it will be on him in making or breaking his career
