Another comment that serves as criticism of the first season of the show and not the superb second season. The Leslie Knope character doesn't come off as being like Michael Scott at all in the second season.

Jeez, i must spend too much time watching sports 'cause i haven't seen most of these shows.

[QUOTE=Reaper16;6849726]You - Planet member, person with keen taste in the Television medium, what shows and actors would you nominate if you were an Emmy voter this year?

My personal ballot would be as follows, winners in boldface:

I wouldn't even know what 3/4 of those shows are. Do you REALLY watch that much TV?

So you definitely have not seen season 2, then.

Party Down

Lead Actor, Drama:
Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad)

Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights)
Melissa Leo (Treme)

Supporting Actor, Drama:

Supporting Actress, Comedy:

Alison Brie (Community)
Jane Lynch (Glee)
Julie Bowen (Modern Family)
Aubrey Plaza (Parks & Recreation)
Jenna Fischer (The Office)

Mad Men and Breaking Bad's new seasons haven't even aired.

I'd take any of the Modern Family writers and actors over anyone in their respective categories.

I don't think that Alec Baldwin would lose to anyone. He's universally loved.

And IMO, you've way overrated Parks & Rec. It's a good show, certainly better in season two than season one, but I don't think it's a "great" show just yet.

So, you're basing this on actual Emmy Season?

If so, there's no way that Parks & Rec should even be listed because the show started in October and didn't really pick up until 2010. Well, at least IMO.

I'm basing this on post-last year's Emmy's 'til when nomination ballots were required to be turned in. So, August '09-June '10.

Well, if you're going by the Emmy season, it's actually 6/1/2009 through 5/31/2010.

I just have a hard time believing that Parks & Rec and especially Party Down get many nominations, let alone wins.

And I can't believe you left off The Big Bang Theory from your list. The actors are excellent and the writing is very good and consistent. I'll be surprised if Jim Parsons isn't nominated.

Oh, and people in Hollywood LOVE Ty Burrell, so he could be a dark horse winner.

I'm not predicting nominations and winners, I'm giving my personal opinions as to who should be nominated and who should win. I don't see Parks & Rec or Party Down actually getting nominations or wins either.

Big Bang Theory is surely going to get some nominations. But I don't care for the show or the performances on it, so it wouldn't get any nominations from me.

Really? Wow.

I think the show and actors are top notch. My wife (who was a math major at UCLA - 3.98) LOVES the show because she's been around geeks like that her entire life. It's Must See TV for her.

I'm just getting into Party Down and while I like it (and the "inside" nonsense), I'm not at all shocked the ratings were dismal. I just can't see it connecting with folks outside of the 'Wood.
