How long has this guy been filling the back end of our roster? Isn't this his third season here?

Just give the guy a ****ing shot.

Darryl Harris was an undrafted rookie free agent in 2009.

This will be his second season in the league.

This is exactly what I predicted yesterday. He was starting before the injury and rather than place him on IR (where he'd be lost for the year) or the PUP (six weeks), he can now practice with the team (or not) and can be placed on the active roster at any time.

It's utterly ****ing amazing to me that Scott Pioli burned a 5th round pick on Colin Brown last year when he most likely would have gone undrafted.

Then, he stashes him on IR for the year, even though the severity of the injury was never mentioned.

A year later, the ****ing guy isn't even worth putting on the Practice Squad? Are you kidding me?

Nice scouting, Pioli.

I've given this considerable thought and I think it's pretty clear that, in 2009, our scouts consisted of a blind clown named "Blinky" and two lesbian midget wrestlers from Mexico City.

It's frustrating.

Call me a "Drafturbator" or "Draftabulator" or whatever you'd like, but the bottom line is that is that I correctly predicted the awful nature of our 2009 NFL draft (along with Goff, Thomas, Engram, et al).

I wish I had been wrong. Or at least, I wish someone had paid me $5 million a year in 2009 to be right.

If Tyson Jackson and Alex Magee continue to tread water, it will set this franchise back even further because they'll need at least two more 3-4, 5 tech defensive ends before truly being able to compete, along with at least one inside linebacker and a QB.

More to the point, the Chiefs will need the same exact players in 2011 as they drafted/traded for in 2009.

Wasn't the scouting department in 2009 part of the old regime? Pioli had been hired so late that he had to go with what was already in place?

Not to defend him in any case, since ultimately it is his ass on the line, but this year was drafted much (we hope) better than last.

Darryl Harris...the Dane McCloud dream lives on.

No. Absolutely not. I said this last year and it's been verified by Bob Gretz as well.

The Chiefs scouts turned in their reports, which Pioli promptly tossed in the trash. He used all of his reports compiled by New England's scouts for the 2009 draft.

Well obviously, I'm not the only one who sees it with this kid.

I just hope that someday soon, he owns the position and keeps it for a decade.

KCFalcon59 09-05-2010 03:05 PM

The scouting excuse pisses me off to no end. Isn't scouting and assessing talent a year long job? I don't care if you change teams you should be aware of what talent is out there and draft accordingly. There is no excuse to draft that poorly given the fact that Pioli was supposed to be the best available GM out there. JFC.

That makes it even worse. JFC

I think it's better than a GM that stubbornly holds on to turds just because he drafted them. Flush 'em and move on. Let's hope he'll be willing to do the same thing with the QB if it doesn't pan out this year.

Seriously, though.

How good would our receiving corp be with Bowe, Wade, Baskett, Bradley and Lawrence?

I think it could be very good and the front office might not even have to spend a draft choice on the position next year.

Look, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Haley turned 5th rounder Steve Breaston into a 1,000 yard receiver his second season. And that was next to Fitzgerald and Boldin.

If Haley saw enough in Lawrence to keep him on the 53 man roster, he's going nowhere.

The next logical step would be to cut Copper (who's invisible) or Engram and that's only IF they claim someone like Baskett and get him.

If the Chiefs get Baskett (or another free agent receiver), Copper or Engram will be the next to go.
