*shields my head from the Bud bottles*

Put me down as a big #48 fan. Yeah, yeah. I HATED NASCAR until my oldest son got into it (I have no idea how.), and he's a #48 fan so I'm with him. If that's heresy around here, my second favorite driver is the #99.

Possible qualifying change? I like this one.

Change in Sprint Cup qualifying?
NASCAR is considering a new system that would change the order of qualifying. Instead of drawing for qualifying order as teams have done in previous seasons, the qualifying order would at least in part be determined by speed in the practice prior to qualifying. Teams in the Camping World Truck Series already use the system [a few times in 2010]. "It is a possibility. & We're throwing a bunch of ideas around in the meetings with the teams," NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Director John Darby said Friday. "We want to finish all the meetings, get everybody's input and then finalize some stuff." The idea is to have the faster drivers, the ones who will challenge for the pole, qualify near the end of the session and add drama to the qualifying show. It is possible that the drivers not locked in the field because their teams are outside the top 35 in owner points will still be grouped together at the end of the session.

New year will bring several more changes to NASCAR.
- New Car
- New Restrictor Plate
- New Tire Rule
- New Fuel
- New Qualifying Rules
- New Points Rules
- New Points System
- New Chase

Another idea that has been getting a lot of talk is the new points system. It appears that NASCAR will scrap the points system it has used since 1975 in favor of a simpler method that awards points per finishing position. The likely new system would award 43 points to the race winner, and one point less for each ensuing position down to one point for the 43rd-place finisher. Drivers would be awarded bonus points for winning a race. In all honesty, it does not matter to the drivers what the points system is, whether its 180 points to win or 43, they will still race as hard as ever.

To be fair, there aren't too many major changes:

- New Car (New model "specific" noses, remove the splitter. Good)
- New Restrictor Plate(They change the damn thing every race, no big deal. Smaller plate likely because the new, fast, asphalt=probably more exciting Daytona unless they ride in protest like last year. Good)
- New Tire Rule( Not sure about this)
- New Fuel (Ethanol. No difference)
- New Qualifying Rules (Change the order, no difference unless you actually watch qualifying)
- New Points Rules(No difference. Literally it makes no damn difference whether 1st=43 points or 175 points)

- New Chase (actually be kind of cool if they deliver. 2 guys with most wins outside of top 10=chase._

Can you say, "sandbagging"? :)

Quite often conditions in a qualifying round favor the guys who go out early in the session. We've all seen it.

I want to thank all the fans for all the support you have given our sport through the years. Its been one heck of a ride. Tickets are still available for the Daytona 500 starting at $5 on the roof of the dog track a half mile away. Free parking always just be sure to leave your cash and valuables in the car so I can break into it while you're watching the race. Thank You very much.

I've got you covered. We're giving him that special plate again. The one from the July 4th race where I made a cool million off of Helton.

Mr France,

You have my vote too but I would need all the internal documents from your office to Hendrick Motorsports and all the bank transactions for the last 5 years regarding the payoffs from Hendrick Motorsports.

Sincerely,

Julian

Dale Earnhardt Jr. age 76, is preparing for another Daytona 500. The perennial fan favorite is hoping to finally get it right after another season of frustration. Earnhardt's new crew chief, Chad Knauss Jr, is hoping to change the luck of Earnhardt Jr, who has not won a Viagra Cup race since 2008 in Michigan. Earnhardt's new car owner, Leo Benjamin Gordon, son of Nascar legend Jeff Gordon, is hoping the crew chief change will bring a championship for Earnhardt Jr. Gordon says, "He's been sticking around for a long time and we're confident he's going to get it right".

He has a son named Chase that he is grooming into helluva a driver. Already winning big races and don't even have a drivers license yet.
