I don't mind religion. Faith is helpful to most people, and helps them make order and reason out of the apparent disorder of life. But I do mind when one religion tells me all the other religions are wrong, and their word MUST be the truth. Frankly, since none of us know what came "before" and what comes "after" (when we die), all bets are equal. Maybe there's nothing. Maybe the Christians are right. Maybe the Buddhists. The Hindus. The Moslems. Maybe the Native Americans had it right, or the Greeks and Romans. Who the **** knows. We'll all find out eventually.
But, just going by intellectual premise, in regards to the Bible (most of which was written well after the fact, if indeed any of it IS fact, and much of it hand-picked to be included and many things left out that, at the time, they didn't want in there), to say that the Bible is telling you May 21st 2011 is specifically the End Of The World... they're ****ing reeruns. (I still thing it'd be funny if it turns out the Bible was a big joke, written by two drunk Romans in a bar a few thousand years ago.) I'm sure when May 22nd rolls around they'll claim they simply miscalculated, and they'll get back to us soon on what is the ACTUAL date... :shake:
