I think it's pretty much a given that they are going to spend some money on a WR that can play slot...Steve Breaston, Steve Smith, Santana Moss come to mind.

Strongest? Name one player the chiefs could use that is considered one of the top players in the game? If the class was that strong we wouldn't be treating slot receivers as if they were Andre Johnson.

I think that's where the disconnect is between the "sign FA's" camp and the "don't sign FA's" camp.

The definition of "big name."

No one is expecting Pioli to go out and sign a Albert Haynesworth type circa 2009.

But there are a lot of guys out there that can help this team, that I don't consider Tier A FA's.

Chris Hoke
Michael Bush (potentially)

Etc.

To pass on guys like this in favor of slugs like Urban, Long, Engram, Toomer, etc would be pretty ****ing stupid considering this roster still has a lot of the same holes it had 3 years ago.

I'm not in the 'don't sign FA's" camp. I'm in the don't overspend for marginal players like Franklin camp.

This has been the most disappointing part of what Pioli has done so far. I understand not going after elite players until we've built the team back. I just don't understand why we have to go after complete scrubs when there are quality 2nd level guys out there.
