A good NT would allow us to do a lot more of those things. Blitzing up the middle wasn't always a good idea when that player would have just run into our NT's ass.

pressure on the qb, consistently.....and with 4 men

#1 improvement id like to see

BossChief 07-26-2011 12:40 AM

Id like to see us do better on third down against better teams.

If we played a little better on third down in the playoffs, we would have had a real chance.

That and run defense up the a gaps.

I didn't see that at all. I thought they played pretty phenomenally in the first half. Let's not forget that we gift-wrapped two of the Ravens' scores by stupid turnovers. That's what really turned the game around.

What I like is that we've got stability here.

Same DC, a solid foundation, this should be the year our D really impresses (depending on the if/when resumption.) We've added talent through the draft I'm ****ing ecstatic about seeing on the field that one way or another should contribute day 1.

Vs. the Ravens we got pushed around as bad as we pushed in the TRich/Watters/DV game.

It was bad...

By the way... clearly a Nose Tackle who consistently take away the inside run, but we HAVE to get some other pass rusher besides Hali to pose some kind of a threat. Hopefully that's Houston.

It won't happen overnight but I think he's the perfect guy.

I also love the range it gives us.

We decide to run a 4-2 or 5 man front out of the blue we have the legit talent to pull it off.

It's taking time but we're slowly growing an adaptable defense, not a 3-4 defense...

Catcher and second base... center field would be fine too.

Blick 07-26-2011 08:50 AM

Better run defense...no let downs and long runs given up.

More aggressive blitzing.

Agree with better coverage over the middle. Todd Heap killed us in the playoffs last year and Flacco had a way better game than he should have.

well the way 3rd and long seem to be an easier make than 3rd and short was definitely irritating last year.

Athleticism at the LOLB spot - rush the passer and cover a TE if necessary.

Athleticism at the ILB spot.

LDE improvement.

NT improvement.

Someone to step up at nickel corner.

The D showed alot of grit early on and the pressure on the QB improved as the year went by but those long drives absolutely deflated the entire club in key situations last season.
Shades of what could be last year need to be chiseled in stone this year.
