Polis pointed out that SOPA and Smith’s amendment already excluded certain operators of sub-domains, such as GoDaddy.com, from being subject to shutdowns under SOPA.

“If companies like GoDaddy.com are exempt, why aren’t non-commercial domain servers exempt?” Polis asked.

Polis also pointed out that the House’s own sub-domain servers could also be subject to shutdown if they were the accused of copyright infringement.

I see nothing which mentions GoDaddy in any form that could let them be distinguished in some form apart from their competitors.

Do you?

Here is a summary of the bill.

http://judiciary.house.gov/issues/Ro...0Amendment.pdf

Here is the full text. The whole thing.

http://judiciary.house.gov/hearings/...0Amendment.pdf

How can they be exempt from anything if there is no language that singles them out in any way?

Ask 4-chan and tell them to feed you a response real quick Buck.

Buck 01-05-2012 08:46 PM

Where the **** are you getting the idea that I heard about this on 4chan?

Seems everything you talk about comes from there except for when you talk about your mother.

Swing and a miss.

From about 3 seconds ago.
I see nothing which mentions GoDaddy in any form that could let them be distinguished in some form apart from their competitors.

Oh great. You got me, however GoDaddy is one of few who supported SOPA, and though they don't publicly do so any more, they helped write the SOPA bill themselves and got clauses in there to protect themselves.

There are plenty of other sites out there that provide the same services as GoDaddy for the same price who do not support SOPA or flat out are against it.

It isn't about getting you it is about you being careless with truthful info from the get go. I don't have a problem with you being completely misled but why spread it around?

That does not mean they had nothing to do with getting this language put in the bill just in case it were to ever get passed.

Hey, dumbass, do you think I'm the only one talking about this shit?

It's all over the internet.

It's on every single news site, countless blogs, every social networking site, thousands and thousands of message boards, etc.

But apparently since you saw it posted on 4-chan one time and that was the only place you saw it, you assumed that I was talking out of my ass and that I am some dipshit from that stupid ****ing website.

Get real. Search SOPA on Google, or even on Google News. You are a dumb****, Zach.

Why should I?

Service has been steady and it's not too expensive in comparison to other's I've checked. Far better record for time down than my last host.

Godaddy is a domain registrar, not a webhost.

It's the Stop Online Piracy Act.

Just read the Arguments Against section. Read the Arguments in Favor too.

GoDaddy supports SOPA, which if passed, will destroy Net Neutrality and create censorship on the internet in levels we've never seen.

ooooh, this is what that dude was talkin about the other day

Eh, technically they do offer some basic hosting packages. But you're right that domain registrations are, by far, their biggest line of business.

No, I don't think any of that.

I am completely against SOPA I was responding quite specifically to your characterization of GoDaddy's involvement.

Sorry you got all emotional about the whole thing. If only joey was here to dry your tears.
