take magnesium before going to sleep...keeps you from waking up all the time, a much deeper sleep...i take 400mg

has the bonus effect of keeping you real regular, so don't go popping a bunch of pills...

I had the same problem. I would go to bed and go right to sleep then I would wake up at 3:00am and be wide awake for 2 or 3 hours. I think it was the red wine. I don't know why but when I don't drink red wine I sleep all night. Also my medical marihuana really helps but there are side effects like getting the muchies and having great sex.

Working out will help but adding a passionflower and a vitamin D supplement will further decrease the effects of winter anxiety or SAD.

Melatonin on most nights. Melatonin plus Benadryl on the really difficult insomnia nights. Also Valerian has benefits for aiding sleep. Drinking Chamomile tea will also help.

I would lean towards this as the root cause. Go to your doctor and talk to him/her about some anxiety meds.

Or avoid big pharma and try Passionflower or Valerian first.

Or just take the pill and be relieved.

Ambien.

Get a rx for 10 mg and cut them in half...

Trust me, they work wonderfully.

Hey guys, I take a nap every day, but I can't sleep at night - any ideas why I'm rested when I go to bed at night?

It's a cycle. You can't really make up a four or five hour sleep deprivation by taking daily naps on a regular basis, except under unusual circumstances.

I've heard too many stories about Ambien.
