that was due to a couple factors that no longer exist, though.
Nobody but Dexter had the physical ability to run anything but power runs.

Opposing defenses knew there no threat of stretch runs, toss plays or other runs that require speed.
When that's the case, it doesn't take much post snap info to blow the play up. Especially when there is loads and loads of tape telling the same story week in and week out.
What compounded the problem was the size (or lack thereof) of Weigmann and Lilja mixed with the limited repertoire of our running attack.
Hillis and Charles can both utilize far more running plays to force the defense to play them "honest".
Couple that with going from 280 pound Weigmann to 300 pound Hudson and possibly going from 285 pound Lilja to a larger guard and all of a sudden a glaring weakness turns into strength that defenses are forced to try and prepare for and limit. I think more times than not, we will het the edge in the run game.
