I disagree. I think IF Pioli fired Crennel, he would lose his job by default. He was brought in to bring the stability of Pittsburgh. 3 coaches in 4 years is not stability.
|
I actually think the opposite is true.
No way he could survive two in-season firings of his head coaches, in as many years. |
The most realistic reason Piloi and RAC will not be fired, according to Baldinger, is the $30 mil price tag that would come along with it.

I'm not buying any reasoning or rumors that finds a way to explain pioli & co staying on.
What we're witnessing is truly one for the record books. No, Clark has to clean this up, theres no way around it... fait accompli. |
I may be wrong, but I don't believe you can raid another team's F.O. during the season.

Yet, the DECISION that needs to be made HAS to be plainly evident to Clark... it will happen probably within 48 hours of seasons end. Its the only choice he has left, and he SURELY knows it... CLEAN IN 13. |
Oh to be a fly on that wall.
Pioli had to be nervous long before now. His easiest path to retention was to begin the conversations with Clark about the firing of RAC. Our only hope is that Clark had the brains to halt that discussion rather quickly. At that point, they all see it coming. The only question is when, and I don't blame Clark at all for not tipping his hand. The brains part, though...I'm slightly worried. |

The writing is on the wall, and all of 'em are dead men walking.
But if we lose out on Marc Ross to Carolina/San Diego or whoever might be in the market for a new GM, I'm gonna be bent. |
