IIRC, the board becomes somewhat less active. People don't log on to talk about the glorious wins as much after game day. Currently, they tend to log on to bitch and moan and vent and play cudda, wudda, shudda. Also the draft becomes less important talk.

This post is funny to me considering the source.

I don't remember. CP didn't exist in the 90's.

You know the holocaust? It's the exact opposite of that.

It's not actually that much different. People have always been slanted more towards the pessimistic side here. Or as I like to call it, "realistic".

Then again, they've never really done all that much winning in the life of the board. 2003 was kind of an aberration.

Marcellus 12-11-2012 07:56 PM

I don't really think its much different. There are way more active members now than say 2003 I think so it may be quiet different if we started winning now.

whats it like to root for a winning team? whats that like?

I can't recall the taste of food... nor the sound of water... nor the touch of grass. I'm... naked in the dark, with nothing, no veil... between me... and the wheel of PIOLI!!!!

What's this 'winning' thing you speak of?

We had a countdown to the first loss in 2003.

Most of us were surprised it took as long as it did given that defense.

I don't think it's like a trip to an Oregon mall!

Lots of truth here. Gameday after wins is always slower. But during the week more traffic evens it out. I used to spend a lot of time analyzing stats and making correlations to specific events. Losses generate more immediate traffic because everybody wants to bitch. But winning teams create more steady traffic during the week because more fans are interested in dropping in and following the details of their team. I'll bet our traffic is going to get slower and slower through the last few games and then pick up again as the current staff gets turned over and football fans become interested in playoff teams.

listopencil 12-12-2012 12:11 AM

If you have a decent team, you bitch when you miss the playoffs. If you make the playoffs as a Wild Card, you bitch because you didn't win the division. If you win the division, you bitch if you don't win a playoff game. If you win one playoff game, you bitch because you were one-and-done. If you win more than one playoff game, you bitch because you didn't win the Super Bowl. If you win the Super Bowl, you bitch because now "your year" is over/your draft position sucks/your coaches are probably going to get hired away/that's only one Super Bowl. It just goes on and on and on...
