Not sure what the Chiefs have to do with it.

Substitute the 10 teams at the top of the draft. PM does more for them than AP.

Who is the DPOY? Miller or Smith?

No. Making the playoffs pfff.

Contending for the SB is a big deal.

no doubting a QB is more valuable. But Manning took a team back to the playoffs.. AD led a team to the playoffs.

Hint: it's not a RB

Has this fan base still not learned this lesson?

QB is, far and away, the most valuable position in team sports.

The MVP is about the guy that did more to make his team competitive in the regular season.

No one did more for his team that AP did for the Vikings.

AP. If the Vikes hadn't gotten the playoff spot, I probably would have voted for Manning.

AussieChiefsFan 12-30-2012 07:10 PM

Peyton manning. AP for comeback player.

AP shouldn't even be considered for Comeback POY. He hardly missed any time at all. Where's the comeback?

Pasta Little Brioni 12-30-2012 07:13 PM

Tom Brady

It doesn't matter.

Of course PM does more for every team, but AP did more for his team this year.

That is the bottom line.

This is not an award for post season.

This is based on the value to your team in the regular season.

The Broncos get the playoffs in a bad division, almost regardless of who the QB is.

The Vikings don't get there in a tough division without AP.

Tough call. I think an equally legitimate question could be how many other QB's would've led that Denver team to the playoffs. And then, how many RB's could've done what AP just did. I don't think there's a single RB. He pretty much willed that team to the playoffs. I do think it was probably the most outstanding performance, but he probably won't win MVP.

ThaVirus 12-30-2012 07:16 PM

If you went by cdcox's logic, MVP ballots every season would include Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and maybe a Roethlisberger or RGIII here and there..

I think you have to take the team's success that (REGULAR) season and decide the guy that contributed most to the team's success.

cdcox 12-30-2012 07:17 PM

Look at the change in Generic Win Percentage (an estimate of a teams winning percentage against an average NFL team during the regular season).

Denver 2011->2012: 0.36 -> 0.72

Minnesota 2011->2012: 0.30 -> 0.44

He's come back from 2 torn knee ligaments. And rushed for over 200 yards and within 9 of the all-time season record.

There is no reasoning with Donco homers.

Healer of the Year, maybe. There was no comeback. He wasn't missing.
