Sir Michael Caine: I DIDN'T claim my friend Sir Sean Connery has Alzheimer's disease

Sir Michael Caine last night rubbished reports that he had claimed close friend Sir Sean Connery has *Alzheimer’s disease.

The screen legend, 80, spoke out after German Sunday newspaper Bild quoted him as saying of Sir Sean: “One must have serious concerns for him.”

But Sir Michael stormed: “It’s all bulls***, completely preposterous.

“I did some interviews over in Germany for a new film and I can only assume someone has twisted my words or got the wrong end of the stick.

“I haven’t seen Sean for a couple of years, but my wife and I spoke to him on the phone on his birthday this week and he was very well.

“He was fine, in complete control of his senses and his usual self.

“This stuff about Alzheimer’s is just nonsense. I have no idea where they are getting it from.”

The headline for the story on Sir Sean, 83, was “Connery forgets his life”.
And the report claimed Sir Sean’s wife Michelle Roquebrune, 77, made him carry her number in case he forgot how to get home in New York.
Sir Sean’s agent Nancy Seltzer also dismissed the report as “silly” and added: “I’m sure Michael was misquoted.

“Articles also say Sean lives in Spain which you, of course, know not to be true. “Honestly, I don’t want to give this story any credence by responding.”

Sir Sean said two years ago that he no longer had any interest in acting.
His last screen appearance was a decade ago for superhero film The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

And he was last seen publicly in April as he took a stroll in Manhattan.
He became friends with Sir Michael, 80, when they starred together in 1975 epic The Man Who Would Be King.

I think it was GoldFinger that used a memory formula on him- Hopefully he will regain his senses and save the world again.

Sorry to hear this, but on the plus side, that guy has lived the dream.

I doubt he has many regrets, that he can remember anyway...

So, the only info we have is a quote from Michael Cane, which he now disputes the accuracy of...

Not sure what to think now...Hope he's ok.

That... was just.. sad...

Sad for everyone. Did Connery really need that money? Was that the Scottish studio's first ever attempt at a CGI film with absolutely no prior experience? And I'm not being mean; it just feels like people really tried and it was a catastrophe.

Like I just want to hug someone an never let them go after seeing that trailer.
