He was a good regular season coach and no he didn't always put you in position to win in the playoffs...

I understand the love affair with Marty, He brought the party to Arrowhead and brought some good times back to KC... Got this town to embrace 9-7/10-6 and the one and dones. The guy is a mediocrity legend and the foundation of the true fanbase.

But when he was in the playoffs, the dude was a complete bonehead.. He left you thinking to yourself, How in the hell did this just happen. Why did he stop running the ball and let Bono throw the ball all over the place when we were control the TOP, LOS and the game... Oh wait, its Marty... nevermind.

Yeah, bad luck had a way with biting Marty in the ass.

But his ultra conservative approach consistently put his teams in positon to be bit in thbe ass.

Around here, we call it Martyocrity.

Marty is probably a top 5-10 regular season coach.

But he's bottom 5 as a playoff coach.

Your legacy is built on playoff games.

There's a gleam men.....

A GLEAM....

He's likely referring to the career move from Cleveland (after 3 big playoff losses to Elway) to KC... and all that entailed. That would be my guess. ;)

And once we were in that position, he went to the stall offense and prevent defense and we lost.

Marty is the Manning of coaches. Great for the grind but terrible in the big game.

They flashed a bit of the kicker who shall go unnamed. And then cut to Marty saying, "It was the biggest mistake of my life." I'm assuming Grbac/Gannon.

It's been long enough. I want to see it.

I've told this story before but 101 was reporting there had been a major argument between Marty and Carl leading up to that game that was squashed very quickly and then a year or two later when Marty was doing NFL Live he was talking about another team who was in the same situation heading into the play-offs and he said something along the lines of stay with the hot hand,no matter what your GM says.

I just connected the dots and would it really surprise any of us if King Carl was actually behind that decision.

Interesting, hadn't read that before. And no it wouldn't surprise me.

I wish we would have started Gannon.

Then we could have lost the exact same way and people could stop talking about.

"One play at a time" , but lets use 3 runbacks with no feature back........"I'm the smartest or dumbest coach", We found out that one.

Marty and Reeves are better comparisons, the difference being that Dan advanced to the big game and then crapped the bed with horrible planning leading up to the Super Bowls. He never met a QB from the other team that didn't win the SB MVP.

We need to get yards in chunks and throw the ball downfield, let's hire Paul Hackett.

I had the opportunity to attend Super Bowl XXII and had a blast,35 points in one quarter in a Superbowl was a sight to behold.
