I'd sign him, if the price was right. Do that, re-sign Abdullah and lets roll.

Being he will be getting cut, us signing him wouldn't effect the count on comp picks...something that's very important this offseason specifically.

I bet all of those guys get decent deals in free agency and we would collect a bunch of comp picks if we don't sign many "qualifying free agents"

What does that mean?

Signing a guy that gets cut instead of one of our own free agents means we keep a quality player at the position while also adding a draft pick the following year.

He is a run stopping safety. He's not great in pass coverage. But part of that too is he has played in a shitty secondary for his entire career. He still makes too many violent hits to stay healthy.

"Some teams" removed free agent FS Louis Delmas from their draft boards in 2009 due to a degenerative knee condition.
The knee issue has bothered Delmas throughout his NFL career, but he did play nearly 100 percent of Detroit's defensive snaps in 2013, and started all 16 games. Still, 27-year-old Delmas will be a bit of a risky signing in free agency. The Lions would still like him back at a reduced rate. Delmas drew offseason interest from the Rams, 49ers and Bills around in March of last year.
