'Hamas' Jenkins 03-10-2014 07:24 PM

They could have likely re-upped him for $9 million per last offseason. Not re-signing him last year or trading him was a mistake.

Should have just taken what trade they could have gotten and been done with it.

Albert will be 30 years old this season. You don't pay OT in their 30's 10m a year.

I agree. Hard to let them walk, but its the right thing to do.

Won't we get a 3rd round compensatory pick for him next year?

It's not that simple.

There's some formula for players lost vs. players gained. How much the players gained played, how much the players lost played, total FA's lost and gained.

There's no telling what comp pick we get but whatever it is it's at the ass end of that round. So getting a 3rd would be more like getting a high 4th.

Yeah, in a likely shitty draft class.

We have Dorsey. It's his job to find great players in shitty draft classes.

I'd rather pay money than spend the 1.1 pick on a player to replace him who isn't even as good.

I'm not sure losing your two best offensive linemen is the right thing to do.

If they don't want to play for you it's the only thing you can do...

Don't want to play isn't the same as not being able to work out an extension.

Paying elite money to a non-elite player isn't any better than drafting a non-elite player at first overall.

Hey! At least Frank Zombo is coming back..............

One wants top LT money and the other wants a starting job locked down.

That wasn't going to happen here...

Sorry, if I'm Dorsey, thinking about the future, I'm more worried about keeping 2 key defensive players in their mid twenties for what will probably be 18 - 20 mil a year together than an aging Branden Albert
