This.

For Vick it's about getting paid if he can stay healthy. Can't blame him for that. For the Jets it's about possible back-up when needed and tutoring as some of you have said. Million dollar back-up QB is the best gig in the NFL hands down. Just ask Orton:thumb:

They have to be being one of the largest if not the largest market to appease not only the moron fans but even more the moronic sports media there.

The Tim Tebow deal was purely a distraction away from the FO meltdown of the Jets. To have the sports media and fans focus on Tim as opposed to the real idiotic leadership going on at the time. Rex and the Jets FO had no intention of seriously playing Tim.

Why are teams still willing to sign Vick?

Cause they have Mark Sanchez.

Agreed. This at least ensures the four letter network will make them a priority through the rest of the offseason.

After they trade for Jackson they'll have the Philly Connection going again. He's a good signing and much better than Geno. I think Rex is tired of screwing with young quarterbacks.

Welcome back Bob!

Of course, I don't think their gm has a clue about what he's doing in terms of player eval and acquirement

Right. It looks like Geno learned by the last quarter of the season what Vick never has and that's to take care of the football. He's just insurance at the point.

Speaking of Orton, I swear there hasn't been even ONE peep about that guy all offseason and its a shame.

Dudes a gamer who can atleast keep you competitive, the Jets would've been wise to look at him instead of Vick... the steady presence who buys you time to figure out if Geno can be the man etc.

The guys much better than he get credit for IMO.

I bet you're right, he'll dominate camp and preseason.

That INT he threw week 17 to end their season was pretty egregious though.

I bet Vick wins the job in camp. You're talking about a coaching staff that should have been canned last year or the year before. They have to win some games.

Improving Geno > Declining Vick

I'm not saying it will be a Nick Foles type leap from year 1 to year 2, but I think it will be substantial.

Agreed. But I didn't realize he was available on the FA market:hmmm:

Vick should be able to help "wake up" Geno.

Vick had major issues early on with work ethic and ****ed off his talent too much and never won a thing. Geno needs to step his game up (like he did over the last month of the season pushing for a playoff spot) and push all of his chips in as a starting nfl quarterback that spends endless hours watching film and finding ways to pick apart his opponents if he is gonna discover his potential. Competition from a guy like Vick could be just the type of motivation he needs to sink or swim in this league.

If he doesn't embrace this challenge, lots of us were wrong about the kid.

He has those moments, no doubt about it... but first game for the team in a PRESSURE packed situation? IMO his teammates could've done things to make sure that wasn't the backbreaker, he had been pure money up until then... just like Romo.

He's kinda like Romo-lite with the very ill timed screw-ups, whereas Vick will maybe not make the one single massive mistake as often, but simply eat away at you with smaller gaffes starting in the first quarter.

Its a pick your poison between the two, but my choice would be Orton... QB's who don't really have the option of running around are kinda forced to be better pocket QB's by natural selection, they have no other choice IMO.

But don't scream you know what, I'd take Warren Moon over either guy.

Yeah, the boys prolly have him locked up, I have no idea... some of the aspects of the NFL outside of the field escape me because I don't pay much attention to them.

I like to watch games and players, not a contract or money guy at all.
