That's got to go both ways. I have separate, distinct, relationships with my parents. Both are equally significant, IMO.

I'm being drawn closer and closer to them as they are starting to decline.

FWIW, he sounded like a hell of a man. Any guy who takes another's seed and raises him/her as his own in such a way that it positively and profoundly changes their lives for the better has got my vote to get into those pearly gates.

Lost my mother 3 and a half years ago...now dad has stage 4 lung cancer...but we are a very close family and we make new memories all the time. He will go home some day, probably sooner than later, and my heart will break. But I'm choosing to remember the good and enjoy every day I have with him.

Your pops sounds like he IS a great man...there is no WAS...he's still around man, just in a different way. God Bless.

So sorry for your loss. Wishing you and your family the best. My father was killed 7 years ago this June and a part of me died that day too. Life has never been the same. Rely on your family and try to remember all the good times
