yeah - just limit to wine and or beer. That's very common.

Exactly. You are expecting spendy gifts and spending thousands usually on the wedding itself. I think it's poor taste to not pay a few extra thousand for those attending to have a few drinks. I've been to some free beer/wine with a paid full bar. That's totally ok IMO.

You invite someone to a party, you don't charge them for refreshments. Limit it to beer and wine if necessary, but why not just charge them for dinner, too?

Wedding etiquette dictates that your gift equals the cost of your overall presence.

That's ****ing stupid too.

What is wrong with all you entitled drunks?

Dear when we have our big date - there will be nothing but Hookahs and Molly.

It's insane what people expect of a wedding today. Not just guests, but family and the betrothed themselves.

Bringing kids to a wedding that aren't invited is just stupid. Some people assume that if they are invited, then their kids are welcome also.

So what does a couple do? Just make a mental note of couples or singles with children and just not invite them?

Nobody paid for anything at my wedding but only because I could afford it. These assholes are going to say no to our wedding because we chose to donate all our extra money to orphaned babies and Molly??

That's not nice.

Yup, our friend threw a kick ass wedding and the invitation said, "This is an adults only event."

Awesome.

And this took too long to be posted.

I love get togethers. I'd probably host some myself if I were a better housekeeper and didn't have crippling insecurity related to how no one ever showed up for my birthdays as a kid for probably valid but unknown to me reasons.

But for the most part, you can't get the people you want to see at a get together without there being some sort of outstanding reason for people to make an effort to get it on their schedules and travel in excess of 3+ hours to attend.

Weddings are just about the only reason.. followed distantly by graduations.

That's just somewhat of a rhetorical question, I know that's a procedure but I can't imagine it's seriously considered by couples who aren't already in a practically childfree circle of friends.
