The bandwagon fans peeve me. I'm glad the Royals brand has grown, but man, I sat through the 2000's and had season tickets in 2004 and saw all those 100 loss teams and endured it.
Then I've seen the young guys grow and develop and it's been a true pleasure to watch unfold. I've probably missed about 30 Royals games this season and last combined. Just realize it's sweeter when as a real fan we've gone through the journey to get to the top and had the full experience.

I can see that to an extent with watching these guys come up and get better each season like you said in your last sentence, but not so much with watching 106 losses 10 years ago. I used to feel that way back in the day, like when Rams fans came out of the woodwork after their SB win, but these days I can't blame people for not watching something that isn't the least bit entertaining. And the Chiefs had fairly recent heartbreak back then, where as the Royals had 'only' not met expectations of becoming a playoff team.
The past couple of seasons have been a celebration of baseball (well, either pro sport) being back in KC, and largely a celebration between the generation who watched the 70s/80s Royals and their children or even grandchildren. Hopefully they're making some lifelong fans and will give them a reason to keep watching for years to come.
