Why don't scouts like Kevin Hogan? He checks the boxes for height, weight, hands.

He is very smart and Shaw loved him. And he's a winner. Rose Bowl 2X including the year after Luck left (can you imagine the pressure of taking over for that guy?).

Yes he has a weird throwing motion, but so did Rivers. I don't get it

O.city 01-28-2016 08:55 AM

He's not very accurate. Rivers has a weird throwing motion but that's the exception, not the rule.

O.city 01-28-2016 08:57 AM

I'm of the opinion that like we did last year with peters, we need to continue to do what the pats, steelers, etc have done drafting at the end of the first have for years. Take good football players that drop for whatever reasons and put them into our system.

Right now, I'd be hoping Jaylon Smith's medical scare some teams and he drops right into our laps.

He's obviously raw, but damn, Sheppard or miller in round 2/3 sounds pretty enticing

I looked at a Twitter draft breakdown of Shepard and he had the best success rate of any WR in this class vs press and double coverage. Treadwell was 2nd.

I really think that Shepard is this year's Lockett

insider Tony Pauline, Ohio State WR Braxton Miller's Senior Bowl performance has "moved (Miller) into the early part of round two."

Pauline believes Miller entered the event as a third-round prospect, but his stock has risen in Mobile. Miller measured 6-foot-1 3/8 and 204 pounds earlier in the week. Although he impressed in his transition from quarterback to wide receiver late in his college career, Miller managed a 26-341-3 receiving line as a fifth-year senior and will turn 24 years old this May.

Browns should hope that another team doesn't move up to #1 and grab Wentz.

Looks great, but agree that Miller's learning curve might be a bit much to be gambling on. If he makes it to us in rd 2, it's worth consideration.. but I would rather a prospect that is more experienced and ready to contribute.

I had to work so I didn't get to watch the game. I saw that Dak Prescott got game MVP.

Anyone?

It is re-airing at 2:00 AM Central tonight on NFL Network. DVR?

I watched a little bit, but haven't had time to keep up on who to focus on, so it didn't grasp my attention a whole lot.

I watched. Couple notes:

1. Noah Spence is the best pass rusher in this draft. If he falls to us we have to take him.

2. Shawn Oakman had a pretty good game showing off his strength with a couple of nice bull rushes.

3. Braxton Miller was a little disappointing, but that might've been a blessing in disguise for a team like us hoping to get him in the 2nd.

4. Dak Prescott looked pretty good, and would be a great fit with Reid.

5. Jason Spriggs is a Fisher clone. Dominated all week, but will clearly need some time to get stronger and he'll struggle in that area early on. One of the guys Oakman beat with a bull rush.

O.city 02-01-2016 03:33 PM

I don't see how a guy who struggles with accuracy from a spread system fits what Reid wants, but he wouldn't start right away so maybe that could be cleaned up.

The guys who have gotten around accuracy issues are pretty far and few between though.

ChiefAshhole1056 02-02-2016 12:32 AM

Just got through the first quarter.
Wasn't overly impressed with Wentz. Made strong, accurate throws and he wasn't getting much help from his surrounding cast, but I guess after hearing all the praise about the guy I was expecting more chicken salad.

Aaron Green (RB TCU) flashed on his few touches to me. He had the first TD and if you disect the entire run, you see some real talent there. Shows solid speed/balance and very good vision. I'm going to keep an eye on him going forward.

Braxton Miller seems like he was just trying to do too much. He'll reclaim his name at the combine after this weak performance.

Coker is maybe a backup QB. Maybe.

Spence is the best pass rusher, but the little ND long haired defensive end has shown up a few times. Oakman is going to be the guy who is a huge disappointment for whoever picks him up, but will have a big day against some of the worst tackles in the league every year and will let his career ride off of that.

The MLBs from Kentucky and Temple have shown up the most to me, just don't think they will be much in the pros. Just don't have the talent once they have to face the big boys. But they have the instincts. Jones from LSU is probably the only one I'd want so far.

Sheldon Day is a 3T DT and was so quick at ND. People will call him undersized but said the same about Aaron Donald. He's definitely not as good as Donald but he has a role as a 3T.

Matakevich did make a lot of tackles in the Senior Bowl, but he was awful vs. Penn State and vs Notre Dame this year, the only two Temple games I focused on him. He definitely needs to be kept clean to even belong on the field.

I agree on your observations about Wentz and about Green. Wentz is just is not the type to take your team to the next level. Do you want to draft an Andy Dalton/Ryan Tannehill type in the top 5? Green is one of those guys that if you get him the ball in space good things are going to happen, and he can make some moves at the LOS too.
