Plays well against Denver...shits pants against an AWFUL Tenn D...weird. BTW Chiefs are averaging 30 PPG against Denver the last few years ROFL ROFL ROFL

Moronic thread. I'm no Alex fan but I certainly appreciate when he plays well. Also, just because I don't care for him as a QB doesn't mean I don't support him. He is a Chief and thats the most important thing.

Take Big Ben's season.. he's had 5 games this yr with a QBR of 55 or less.. a few, much less. As great as Tom Brady is, he had a couple games in the 40's.. one of them against DEN.

Alex has 5 games below 55... He is currently ranked 14th on QBR in the league. (unless not updated yet, which would then raise him up)

My point is not that he's wonderful, or having a great yr. It's that even the perceived better QBs are all pretty inconsistent. They are just numbers... stats.. but QBR is a decent one to get a feel for how much heavy lifting a QB is doing week to week.

I love metrics...created my own...so they always peak my interest. Id be curious how many games well above a 55 QBR Smith has compared to those mentioned...or even his average in comparison.

I know PFF currently has him ranked 22nd among QB's with a grade of 76.8. The highest PFF grade he's achieved was an 84.8 in 2014 when the Chiefs went 9-7. Almost tying that was his 2011 PFF grade of 84.5 when the 49ers fell to the Giants in the NFC Championship game.

It's probably not hanging with the top. Have to consider though, Andy's philosophy does not demand that his QB does the heavy lifting. The average in comparison is as said though.. 14th in the League. Last season, he finished 13th, though was top 6 during that second half of season stretch.
