Perhaps its just a product of the games I watched, but in Rawls I see a guy that has no problem initiating contact but also a guy that's capable of breaking one. And Rawls is actually a great example of the 'suddenness' to the hole I'm talking about. From handoff to the line seems to be in the blink of an eye. Rawls isn't a burner, but by the time he gets to the point of attack, he's nearly at full speed. Smith looks like a guy that's still accelerating in that "Ron Dayne sucking horribly" sort of way.
Ultimately I think we have room for 3 full-time RBs on the roster - X, Ware, West (as Hill will get carries as well). I would far prefer that the X be someone like Kamara, though I admittedly may have a bit of a hard-on for Kamara. I'm less concerned with draft capital than I am roster space. Even if Smith came as a UDFA, I just don't see a place to put him. If Kamara fell to the 2nd round, I'd much prefer use the higher pick on the far more valuable asset because it's just a better use of the roster spot. |

I do, however, agree with you on the roster spot being used for a more versatile prospect. That's a fantastic point. I like Kamara in that regard as well. Do me a favor though....checkout Jamaal Williams of BYU (Reid's Alma Mater). If you want a Jamaal Charles type back HE is IT. Downside? Major durability concerns. Were it not for that, I'd argue he's a top-5 ..top-3 back in this class. I'd roll dice on him late day 2, early day-3 but he very well could go earlier to an enamored team. |

I agree with DJ. I see zero explosiveness. Think Larry Johnson post-2006.

This is dumb on so many levels I'm not even sure where to start. Going full Martyocre and adopting the early 00's iggles rbbc? Trying to find Buckhalter or Stayley (when we already have them in Ware and West...) instead of looking for Westbrook? Thinking that moving the chains is about the running back and not the line and the play calling?
I like Smith - hell, I'm a Michigan fan... - but not here. We need playmakers, not more jags, particularly at RB. The guys we want from the Wolverines will be coming out in a year or two. |
Question: What exactly was supposed to be Mike Cloud's game?
He's the only dude I know who couldn't run behind that all-world offensive line worth a shit. He wasn't exactly slow... but he wasn't exactly fast. He wasn't all that powerful, but he also wasn't a weakling either. Average RB size... decent hands I guess... terrible vision... God, why did Vermeil stick with him as long as he did? He could have easily found some co-worker of Kurt Warner's at the grocery store to plug in and play. |

Someone flipped out last year over start threads in the lounge and deleted all their posts in the draft forum. I was making fun of them |

Agree on all counts. I'd love to see Kamara in a Chiefs uni next season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Got into an impassioned debate with my editor when I wanted to do an article on West when he was a UDFA. He was buried on the deph chart....not a lock to make it into camp (had a logjam at HB at the time...Charles , Gray, Davis, Draughn, DAT, etc ). But I saw some of highlights and was wow'd. Jury might still be out on West but he had an awesome '15-'16 season. I tend to be drawn to the day-3, small school prospects. I kinda root for em a bit and hope they latch on to a 53 or practice squad. |
