You know I hate to be 'that guy', but is it really necessary for Tamba to be out there vocally expressing his displeasure about this? At least DJ was actually contributing at a level near his salary last year before his injury. Tamba doesn't even practice anymore.

He's an all-time Chief, but if anyone needed to take the bigger pay cut it was him.

It's not really being "that guy". Dude is to the point where he's like Alex Smith. He's not playing up to what he's making.

5th highest cap hit this year. This isn't like he's Justin Houston and he was hurt and coming back from an injury. Hali is just old and done.

Yep, at this point you let him play out the year. Hopefully we pick up a pass rusher in the draft this year because we're going to ****ing need him.

As much as Tamba has been a great contributor, he's not anymore. He's got the team in a Ted Nugent style stranglehold with the awful contract and the way he seemingly fell off a cliff last year. He shouldn't be talking shit but he knows the team can't really do anything about it.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-17-2017 09:43 AM

Apparently DJ's pay cut money got pushed to 2018, so he's likely here for the next two years.

RunKC 03-17-2017 09:44 AM

Tamba was better than his stats showed last year, but it's time to stock up in the draft and this draft is deep in quality rushers.

It's a shame that Dadi Nicolas got hurt bc he has natural pass rush moves and just needed an offseason to gain some muscle.

lol

Depending on what other free agency move they have in mind if any and their thoughts on the qbotf, wouldn't be surprised if he restructures Smith with goal of him playing thru age 34

Danguardace 03-17-2017 10:01 AM

Easy to slam the deal in hindsight but Hali was really good in 2015 and he signed this contract after that season, Hopefully he gets in good shape and has good final season.

I wonder if Dorsey goes back in for Hodges.

Danguardace 03-17-2017 10:04 AM

Also we never really did much to help our Pass rushes like Stop the run or put up good scores on offense. Hopefully those other areas improve.

He took a pay cut last year didn't he?

pugsnotdrugs19 03-17-2017 10:15 AM

The money that DJ cut out this year was turned into incentives this year, per Terez Paylor. If he reaches those incentives, the cap hit goes to 2018.

its so chiefs to use our under the table payment plan on an ILB, teams like the patriots use it on the best QB ever...

I cant wait for 2018 when a lot of these guys get cut, go away, retire and there is a bunch of cap space to try something new.

I appreciate what these Chiefs have done a lot of them all time Chiefs wasted away their prime years on some bad Chiefs teams and are just trying to get their money because father time is now against them, but from a business and flexibility standpoint its hurting the franchise and its just time for some out with old and in with the new.

This current crop got as far as they could and I enjoyed watching them but 2017 better be the last of this window
