He's a great qb for the 2-14 Chiefs. But now he's at his plateau, and it's not good enough. If you're content with 9-10 wins first round playoff losses, he's your man.

No the Giants game is not the norm. If there is one thing Smitty is good at it is taking care of the football. He threw 2 INTs against the Giants. That's completely uncharacteristic of him.

^Neither the Giants nor the Patriots game is the norm with Alex. The norm isnt 300 yards and 4 touchdowns, nor is it 200 yards and 2 interceptions.

The norm is right around 200 yards, maybe 1 TD, and about 2 or more missed TDs.

The jags with a good qb can be a super bowl contender. I think the browns are the best fit because the browns aren't looking for a super bowl. They just want a guy who can win some games and bring them to consistent respectability. They have a Gregg Williams led defense and with Joe Thomas back, they'll have Crowell and Duke Johnson in a decent enough running game, plus some pretty good receivers. Alex Smith at this point of his career is a best fit for a team looking for stability not a team hunting for a quick ring.

I think the biggest problem on offense right now is the Chiefs inability to gain good yardage on 1st down. This team is almost always 2nd n long. Esp in the running game. Run plays on first down have been ineffective to say the least. If you're 2nd n short it opens of the playbook to many different options and keeps the defense guessing. The Chiefs are essentially wasting downs on offense. If they improved on first down their drives would be extended more and would have more of a chance to get into the endzone.

This isn't a powerful mauling OL that pushes people off the ball. They're a finesse pussy line thats good at misdirections, offtackles etc. Bottom line is Chiefs are getting their asses kicked in this area. And really on both sides of the ball they're getting their dicks kicked in, in the trenches. Where is Parker Ehinger? Not that he's a world saver like some on here tend to believe but wtf has he been? Is he STILL injured? wtf is the deal there?

Playcalling is atrocious and Alex Smith is going back to his old Alex Smith aka Cpt Checkdown ways. With the Chiefs woes in the running game if they can't fix that then AS has to advance the chains w/ his legs. Need to get about 50-60yds rushing out of the guy per game. That's roughly 12-15yds a qtr, that's not hard, but what it will do is help move the chains. This offense evolves around it's running game, and right now the running game is non-existent. They're certainly not getting any big chunks of yards in the running game. 1 yd here, 2 yds there, the running game isn't moving the chains at all, and again it sucks on 1st down. And in the passing game, Smith is missing people wide open downfield again. Chiefs miss Maclin. I'm still 100% behind his release given his contact. It was just a bad contact to begin with, and he wasn't producing unfortunately like he is this year. But the Chiefs could use him this season. I'm not totally convinced losing Conley was really any significant blow to the offense. Conley to me is JAG. Wilson is now back, but you're not going to anyone around the league say "Hey Wilson is healthy, KC is back!" He's just a small role player. And really that's all the Chiefs have at WR. Hill is still learning the position and really to me, shouldn't be a #1WR, and probably wouldn't be if the Chiefs had better options. And I get he's a HR threat on the field, but I also think many are expecting too much of him this early on. Hill doesn't have any help at WR. He has Kelce I guess, but no true help on the other side.

Reid really needs to get his head out of his ass too. Someone should take his playcalling sheet, headset and escort him to the locker room with 5min left before each half of each game. He's a ****ing cancer during crunch time. The clock always kicks his ass. It's the most maddening thing I've seen w/ a football coach, these guys are paid shit tons of money and they really do some stupid shit. 1min left, down by 3 80yds to go, 1 timeout left...and you run the clock out to end the half? Whos god damn genius idea was that? Running on 2nd n long almost always pisses me off, esp if you're trailing in the game. No excuse for that either. Over-utilizing trick plays and getting cute inside the redzone, esp not being able to punch the ****er in, inside the 5yd line, is also maddening. Alex Smith saying **** it lets take the FG is god damn frustrating as well. Instead of trying to execute how to be cute on offense, they should focus developing a game plan that gets them chunks of yardage. Not these little 2-3yd passes into the flat. Those are essentially wasted passing possessions. The Chiefs are literally wasting possessions on offense.

I actually don't think the OL is much of a problem in the passing game. The Philly game gave the OL some problems but KC still won and that was probably the best DL they've seen all year.

I agree, good post.

jaa1025 11-24-2017 03:45 PM

He was great against NE.
He was Old Alex Smith for the first half of the Eagles game, then fantastic in the 2nd half.
Then he started to regress to old alex with some spashes of great throws each game.
Then the past 5 games, he's been old Alex without that many great QB throws.
Past 2 games he's been frankly awful.

The Giants didn't have to even defend 1/3 of the field because he couldn't throw into the strong breeze.

As the weather gets colder he gets worse. They should bench him for Mahomes before his trade value goes down even more because as history is an indication he will continue to suck in colder temperatures and windy days. Maybe fake another concussion for a 1 game tryout like they did last year for Foles.

The offense needs a spark. A true franchise QB can lift a bad or mediocre offense to greatness. He can't get much worse than Alex Smith has been the past few games and will likely be the rest of the season. This season, with the coaching and practice time he's seen, he will be somewhere in between imo.

Yes, the Giant game was much closer to the norm regarding Smitty's inability to consistently make plays and score. If there is anything that exemplifies Smitty's tenure in KC, it is that.

The first five weeks of the season is the best Alex Smith has ever played. We were all hopeful that after 12 seasons he had finally taken that step. It was going to be a win-win for all of us. But it was only wishful thinking. He resorted back to being Smitty. Back to the norm. Unable to consistently make enough plays to even score, let alone win.

Of course, Smitty can make plays. Anybody who makes it to the NFL as a QB has shown the ability to make plays. But there is a big difference between possessing the ability to make plays and the really good QBs who consistently make plays. Smitty is the former, not the latter.

This post is also a reminder of how many damn Alex homers there are. What is the average chiefs fans obsession with overdefending nice guy qbs. Nice doesn't win super bowls, unless it comes with talent to play football.

This fan base is bipolar, they rather get rid of good players for good community guys. 1 and done in the play offs or a competing season and most fans are ok with it.

These always put me in a bad mood…

We know he sucked/sucks and don't need it rubbed in ad nauseam.

I seriously can't wait until the Chiefs part ways with this guy just because of these threads.

There are a lot of people here filled with way too much anger over a game. Some of them need to get a little perspective on what is really important in life. I love football, but it isn't worth getting so angry over. Some of them would do themselves a world of good for their health if they stepped away for a while.

These people will be flaming me soon.....

I started to go through the article, but I've already watched that shit-show once. That was enough for me. You've got to be a masochist to revisit that steaming pile of puke.

LMAO

I got pissed for a second, then it was comical, but I mostly got tired. Not often a game can lull me in and out of sleep.

He’s just not good enough to take the chiefs where they want to go. He’s nice but it’s time for the next thing. These All 22 videos are telling...

Like Cassel before him, Alice has entertained me on many levels, some of them new and exciting even.
Cassel's suck was pure comedy, whilst Smith added a LOVELY element of cock-teasing that I had never quite experienced before in a shitty and worthless Chiefs QB. Quite the little roller-coaster he was, yes.

But like you, I too have grown tired of these half-assed comedy hours, and simply wish this season dead so that we may move on to the Main Event.

Veach rocking a draft, Mahomes taking the snaps, and god-willing an end to Bob Sutton and his shitty, shitty 3-4 defense.
