I feel HB Deneric Prince, OL Jerome Carvin, DE Truman Jones, and LB Isaiah Moore will make the '53. Also, they'll likely stash LB Cam Jones on IR for a medical redshirt. These are all the guys whom I feel the team will be the least comfortable with exposing on the practice squad.

And Jones just seemed like an awkward fit all season. I'd give Prince no better than a coin flips chance because he just isn't someone that fits a niche if Pacheco is healthy.

It's not about talent at that point, it's about roles. And his role would be little more than someone who gets carries if Pacheco goes down. And as a UDFA, that's what the PS is for.

Now if he stands out in camp or in the pre-season, he can absolutely earn his way on. But right now, and with RBs being a dime a dozen, I don't see any way to say he's likely to make the roster.

You may be right. But as of now, we only have 5 RB on the roster and he probably stands as good or better chance than the nobody currently in the 4th spot. At this point, it looks to me like the bring in a veteran, or Prince is the 4th RB

Did not know this info on UDFAs and guaranteed money -

Quote:

Evan Brennan, an NFLPA-licensed agent with UA Sports, recently explained why large base salary guarantees are not necessarily as significant as perceived. The amount is usually offset by any salary the players earn in the league — be it on a 53-man roster or a practice squad.

"People see huge UDFA guarantees are are like..."Wow!"

Truth is the signing bonus is really the only thing players will actually see. Teams likely had 5 - 6th round grades on these types, and they're very likely to make team/PS and have those salaries count against guarantees."

https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2023/...asons-reserves
RB Deneric Prince $236,000 guaranteed, $20,000 signing bonus. 3-year contract $2,715,000, '23 $756,666, '24 $921,666, '25 $1,036,668, '26 RFA
LB Cam Jones $150,000 guaranteed deal that includes a $15,000 signing bonus and $135K base. according to this info, Jones would get the $15,000 at signing and then the $135,000 could be part of making the 53 or in making PS.
DE Truman Jones $236,000 guaranteed $20,000 signing bonus. 3-year contract $2,715,000, '23 $756,666, '24 $921,666, '25 $1,036,668, '26 RFA
CB Reece Taylor $70,000 guaranteed, $5,000 signing bonus. 3 year $2.7M contract. '23 $751,666, '24 $916,666, '25 $1,031,668, '26 RFA
OL Jerome Carvin $100,000 guaranteed, $12.5K signing bonus but also a 3 year $2.7M contract. '23 $754,166, '24 $919,166, '25 $1,034,168, '26 RFA
LB Isaiah Moore $148,000 guaranteed, $18,000 signing bonus. 3 year $2.7M contract. '23 $756,000, '24 $921,000, '25 $1,036,000, '26 RFA
CB Kahlef Hailassie $100,000 guaranteed, $10,000 signing bonus. 3 year $2.7M contract. '23 $753,333, '24 $918,333, '25 $1,032,334, '26 RFA
WR Nikko Remigio $50,000 guaranteed, $15,000 signing bonus. 3 year $2.7M contract. '23 $755,000, '24 $920,000, '25 $1,035,000, '26 RFA

if even 1 makes the team, that is good. A few will probably make the practice squad.

Wilson8 05-13-2023 03:31 PM

Someone had written that CB Kahlef Hailassie switched from the Jets to the Chiefs because we guaranteed more money.

That does not look to be true. Jets were reported to have $167,500 guaranteed for Kahlef and KC did $100,000.

Wilson8 05-13-2023 03:53 PM

I like this group.

KC Linebackers
32 Nick Bolton OLB
50 Willie Gay OLB
54 Leo Chenal MLB
23 Drue Tranquill MLB
48 Cole Christiansen OLB
43 Jack Cochrane OLB
45 Isaiah Moore MLB
44 Cam Jones LB

We should have a very strong 5, with a couple of these on PS.

Wilson8 05-13-2023 04:06 PM

There will be a battle for the 5th CB spot and probably a chance on the Practice Squad.

2 Joshua Williams CB

30 Dicaprio Bootle CB
12 Kahlef Hailassie CB

31 Nic Jones CB
46 Isiah Norman CB
14 Reese Taylor CB
42 Anthony Witherstone CB

Chiefs sign Kansas State CB Ekow-Boye Doe following rookie minicamp tryout

The 6-foot and 170-pound cornerback appeared in 42 games with 35 career starts for the Wildcats. Last season, he started opposite Indianapolis Colts draft pick Julius Brents. Boye-Doe recorded 26 total tackles, five passes defended, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

38 L'Jarius Sneed CB
21 Trent McDuffie CB
35 Jaylen Watson CB
2 Joshua Williams CB

Since we were at 90 players, probably remove one of the ones below and add Ekow Boye-Doe.

30 Dicaprio Bootle CB
12 Kahlef Hailassie CB
-- Lamar Jackson CB
31 Nic Jones CB
46 Isiah Norman CB
14 Reese Taylor CB
42 Anthony Witherstone CB

Ekow Boye-Doe continued...

Quote:

Across four seasons with the Wildcats, Boye-Doe played in 33 games. Amassing 74 tackles during his collegiate career, three of those were for a loss. While he didn't intercept a single pass in college, he had 13 passes broken up in his last three seasons and forced a fumble as a senior. Boye-Doe measured 5'115/8" and weighed 177 pounds during the pre-draft process, also running a blazing 4.39-second 40-yard dash.

According to Pro Football Focus' premium stats for the 2022 NCAA football season, Boye-Doe posted a 62.4 composite defense grade with marks of 67.9, 64.4 and 62.8 in run defense, tackling and coverage. Spending 641 of his snaps in a traditional alignment, Boye-Doe was almost exclusively a boundary cornerback for Kansas State during his time with the team. His ability to defend the run at a high level while also maintaining a solid level of competitive toughness and some coverage chops likely endeared him to Kansas City, as did his head-turning performance during the team's recent rookie minicamp.

I don't see any of this years draft making the roster. Veach completely blew it. We need a new GM. The only good thing Virch has done this offseason is sign Blaine Gabbert.

He'll probably be stashed but i wouldn't be totally surprised if Truman Jones made it. Pretty productive and good explosive and speed RAS scores. He might be 10lbs too light but the next Danna? He's probably as good an athlete and he sounds smart. Man I'd love for us to just have above average at pass rushing from the edge. Imagine if we had a group of DEs that were, say, top 8-10. With Jones at DT that is game over.

Wilson8 05-15-2023 10:01 PM

According to the NFL’s personnel notice for Monday, the Chiefs have waived Missouri State WR Tyrone “Ty” Scott. This is the corresponding move to make room for Kansas State CB Ekow Boye-Doe
