I really thought they would play Carson with the full set of starters for the first half and then pull everyone including Wentz in the second half.

I’m glad they didn’t take the risk however.

I’m certainly not blaming or holding it against him, but he didn’t impress either.

The 3rd stringer looked intriguing, kid can really move!

I’m surprised at the margin and just how poorly the team played overall but nothing definitive should be taken from that game.

Wentz’s days starting should be over bc of his time in Indy. If Andy Reid can put together a gameplan with a PE teacher he can do it with this dude and many others as needed.

As for Wentz coming back next yr tell me what my options are and I’ll give answer - he’s certainly good enough to be a #2.

He certainly wasn’t set up to succeed, but he really noodle-armed a couple of out patterns in the first half where our WR had a step and they could’ve been nice gains. Both barely got to the receiver’s feet.

irafreak 01-06-2025 11:17 PM

Well we've seen even mahomes look inaccurate when the line is getting whipped. The first half wasn't too bad for the line but the second half they just pinned their ears back and rushed the qb.

I mean we opened with run, run, pass. Did andy even bother to script the first plays? Lol.

Yea, always lots of excuses for Wentz wherever he plays. All of what the op is saying is true, but he should have shown better.

liquidlounge 01-07-2025 06:53 AM

Totally agree with OP's take - while 15 would have done much better, he still would not have won given the missing playmakers.

O.city 01-07-2025 07:59 AM

Uh, yeah if he would stay around for a couple years I'd sign him today.

Wentz is a good player and with Andy and Co. I don't think it's a question that he'd be successful here in a spot start or even a long stretch if Pat got hurt.

crayzkirk 01-07-2025 08:16 AM

I agree that Wentz didn't really have much of a chance given the circumstances, I also believe that if he were starter material, he would not be a backup.

IowaHawkeyeChief 01-07-2025 08:19 AM

Yea, I don't understand people saying Wentz sucks after that situation yesterday. Not only was the game plan vanilla, and all the skill positions and Oline were basically back ups for 90% of the game, but they had to sit on a tarmac for about 5 hours before flying to Denver. The schedule was screwed for Saturday and that just parlays into an unorganized mess and result.

But I can't find a single **** to give.

This.

The situation was terrible for him.

AND he played terrible. It wasn't just about him not being able to sit in a clean pocket and rip the ball every time. It was that there were instances when there WERE plays to be made and he just didn't put anything on the ball at all.

He looked more composed in the pocket than Oladokun but so would a labrador retriever. I wouldn't say he looked in command back there by any means.

No, he never had a chance to truly succeed but he DID have a chance to flash. He had a chance to show skills. He didn't.

That all said, I just don't give a shit.

"If 15 goes down, we're ****ed. And we don't practice ****ed"

That's all there is to it.

He put a final nail in his coffin to me. I have no use for Oladokun whatsoever going forward.

He just doesn't run the offense at all. From the moment he gets the snap, he's looking to run around and freelance.

He's going to be TWENTY EIGHT next off-season fellas. 28. He's no young kid. There's nothing more to develop here. Move along.
