*Ellen (MO's desk mate) stands up and says 'mosquitoes must be biting today', wipes her nose to check if it's bleeding (its not) grabs Mo with and ankle take down puts him a chicken wing while stapling postee notes on the back of his head and says 'YOU LIKE KORN BITCH!'.

OFF! has quickly become my favorite band right now. Their new album comes out next month. They played a few new songs off it when I saw them in Austin last month. I just picked up Classics of Love which is Jesse Michaels from Op Ivy's new band and it's really ****ing good.

I've been listening to #5 a lot lately (where this song I posted resides). Their full length albums all have the same name "The Spits" but they're commonly known as 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. #5 is their latest that came out in'11.
If you're looking for a bit torrent I've had a hard time finding their stuff.
If you're interested in this album PM me and I'll e-mail it to you via sendspace.

Have you guys seen the documentary "The Other F Word?" It's really good.

Also, there is some good stuff on You Tube. You can watch FEAR play Saturday Night Live in the early 80's. Lee Ving was good buddies with Belushi. It's ****ing crazy if you have never seen it. You can also watch Suburbia, Romper Stomper and SLC Punk on there.

I'm a big Jesus & Mary Chain fan. A lot of people wouldn't consider them punk and they probably shouldn't be (although that's kind of how they started out), but I recently realized that they've reunited and are doing a short American tour this year and it led me to the Chicago Riot Fest which is filled with some pretty great bands:

Day 1:
The Offspring
Neon Trees
Pegboy
Dead Sara
Day 2:
Rise Against
Descendents
Coheed and Cambria
Dropkick Murphys
Slapstick
The Gaslight Anthem
Andrew W.K.
Hot Water Music
Minus the Bear
August Burns Red
GWAR
Frank Turner
The Adicts
Nobunny
A Wilhelm Scream
Teenage Bottlerocket
Off With Their Heads
Deals Gone Bad
Larry And His Flask
The Story So Far
Fireworks
Environmental Encroachment
Day 3:
Iggy And The St00ges
Elvis Costello & The Imposters
A Day to Remember
Gogol Bordello
NOFX
Alkaline Trio
The Jesus and Mary Chain
AWOLNATION
The Promise Ring
Less Than Jake
Chiodos (original lineup reunion)
Built To Spill
Imagine Dragons
Reverend Horton Heat
Fishbone
Screaming Females
White Mystery
The Henry Clay People
Sister Crayon
Japanther
The Infected
Environmental Encroachment
I'm not really into big festival type concerts so I'm not going to go, but I'd love to see the Decendents, Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, and several of the other bands playing there (including The Jesus & Mary Chain, of course).

Black Bob 08-20-2012 02:08 PM

I'd love to go to that. There are a ton of really good bans there. It's strange Screaching Weasel isn't playing... I like what I have heard of Jesus and Mary Chain. I like that song the Pixies covered. The Pixies are probably my favorite band nowadays. I like all kinds of stuff though...

Roughest show I ever went to was Chaos UK. It was at the Somber Reptile in Atlanta in 1993. There was no security. There were about 200 people there and there was no pit. When they started playing, everyone just started fighting. Literally fighting... They played like 5 songs and then the cops shut it down.

I saw these guys the other night at a Teenage Bottlerocket show and I really thought they were entertaining pop punk (TBR was very good too). Their schtick includes color coordinated ski masks and instruments, crime themed songs (mostly tongue-in-cheek love songs), and a fake cop who stands on stage and eventually becomes a crowd instigator.

For those of you in Cleveland/Detroit/Chicago/St.Paul/Omaha/KC/St.Louis and Austin do yourself a favour and go to this show. Blew my mind. Spits were incredible and it isn't every day you get to see a punk super-group in OFF. At 57 Keith Morris still has it.

Yeah, that show is Halloween night here in KC. Lot of people going.

I unfortunately only caught the last two songs from Double Negative from the back of the bar. Not bad from what I heard.

There's a full Off! show from April 2011 on youtube. I'm watching it right now.

Not only does he still have it, but I've seen OFF! totally blow away much younger bands onstage. Really inspiring to see Keith Morris still so full of piss and vinegar at his age or any age for that matter.
