- Chiefs; Law Agree in Principle to Contract --
Fri Jul 15, 2005 --from FFMastermind.com # Kansas City's 610 Sports' Rhonda Moss reports free-agent CB Ty Law and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed in principle to a contract pending Law pass a physical showing that he is able to play on opening day. Law's agent and the Chiefs are speaking daily, and are very close in terms of dollars. Nice to see but still dont buy it |

The thing I don't get is Rhonda Moss. Besides this bs that's been going on for 2 days, she's been talking repeatedly about how he should sign for 1-2 years, prove he's healthy and then get his next big contract. Apparently she doesn't realize he's 31; there is no "next big contract". He's got to get as much money now as he possibly can.

he was running hard and breaking a sweat looked like he was doing the cone and shuttle drill as well don't know if his foot was swollen up to the size of a grapefruit the next day though. |

Watching ESPN PTI now. Two interesting things... First - Rosenhaus calls out Brett Favre! Apparently Drew has stated that he'd like Brett to call him up before he talks anymore about his client (Javon Walker) in the media. If I was JW, I'd be a little concerned about my agent putting himself above my QB. One has to wonder if Walker has started to question his choice of representation yet. As for Law...they just interviewed him. Spoke highly of his time in NE. Even said there was still a chance he could be back there for the season. When asked directly which team was the best situation (KC, Detroit, Miami, and a few others), he indicated it was difficult to say and would depend on his role and finances. However, he was asked directly "What's it going to take for KC and Carl Peterson to get you into KC?" His response was that "KC keeps calling but I don't see it happening. They've got Patrick there and I don't see how they can pay both of us. If they can, great." He went on to reiterate that he wants "fair market value", and wants to be paid what he's worth. It really looks that he still believes he will get the Surtain money this late in free agency. |

if he signs cheap it will be for the pats |
I think he's going to end up signing somewhere for a lot less than he expects 2-3 weeks from now. Hopefully it's us.
|
Quote:
Jacksonville's in the process of trading for Travis Henry. Miami would be his best fit for location, but I think we've got a better cap situation, and a much better chance at winning sooner. I don't think he really fits there. |
it's a difficult position for us i think ... because we have to go above and beyond to pull Law away from NE
1. any 1 year type deal goes to Pats imo 2. any under market deal goes to pats 3. top cornerback type money with long term contract goes to other team 1 out of 3 and then we'd still have to outbid other teams. |

But I still think there's an outside shot until his name's on a contract with someone else. |
Jets | Law Must Lower Price?
Fri, 15 Jul 2005 06:37:06 -0700 Updating previous reports, Newsday's Ken Berger reports free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots) must lower his asking price for the New York Jets to give any consideration to signing him, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. |
I would say nuthooks, but then again Rhonda Moss doesn't have any nuts to hook.
Right? |

Lord, I'm sorry..pigmies in New Guinea.. |
Interesting segment on 610 right now. They're talking to journalists that cover the teams in the other cities that are interested in Law. So far, Indy, NY, and Jax. Sounds like they're trying to justify Moss' statements by process of elimination.
Indy has no interest in Law. Jax has virtually no more interest in him since they're concentrating on Travis Henry. NY had the most but said that they're nowhere near signing him for what he's asking. Dallas up next... |
Quote:
Don't they all. |
Quote:
|
Dallas not interested.
Who's left? Is Miami an option? |
Quote:
|
Well, I will say that after listening to that segment, it sounds like the Chiefs are the clear-cut front runners. However, if they actually come to any kind of agreement is another question altogether.

FYI, I had to include the original "CHIEFS AGREE TO TERMS WITH TY LAW" thread, even though it was really a legit post, because it started the parody threads and I was afraid penchief's fragile sensibilities might be offended.

<A name=239419>Chiefs | Law Deal Getting Closer?
Fri, 15 Jul 2005 19:24:26 -0700Mike Reiss, of the Metrowest Daily News, reports WEEI radio in Boston has been reporting that free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots) has reached a contract agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs, pending a physical. Neither the Chiefs, nor other source are confirming the news at this point. |
