Oh well. Tough loss...we will try to put it together for Nebraska.

Boomer Sooner! You guys really should have beat Texas A & M though. This is your first game you've actually been outplayed IMO.

Yup. Too many TOs this year, even in the wins.

There's 2:15 left in the game, I would say we can screw up a couple more ways in that amount of time.

beer bacon 10-28-2006 01:19 PM

I should have known that when Coffman, the guy with the best hands on the team, dropped an easy touchdown pass, that we were going to implode.

No way we beat nebraska. We have the same problem against them that we do with OU. Problem is, we've lost to them for so long, we will go in hoping we don't lose, and that's what happens. I see the EXACT same thing happening next week.

We should have matched up well today against OU, and we did. Problem is, they know they can't beat OU so they have lived up to that. I see the same thing happening next week.

Our best chance at a Big 12 North title is if the Cowboys can upset Nebraska today and A&M beat them in 2 weeks putting them one game behind us.

Missouri is a good team. So is Nebraska.

It will be a great game. I know a little bit of perspective is frowned upon in game threads but c'mon now...

beer bacon 10-28-2006 01:22 PM

Against both A&M and Oklahoma, our best players had the opportunity to give our team the early lead. They could have easily changed the dynamic of both of those games. Instead they both choke. Missouri football.

CoMoChief 10-28-2006 01:22 PM

That goaline play was a terrible playcall. Reminds me of the Seattle game in 2002 when we were on the 1 yd line and Trent throws an INT instead of handing it off to the best RB in the NFL. Also could say the same for the HOU game a couple seasons ago when Trent threw an INT and was returned for a TD.

Bugeater 10-28-2006 01:23 PM

Geez, what a disappointment for MU. It's nice for us to have some breathing room in the north, but this certainly takes some of the luster off next week's game.

If Nebraska loses next week then Mizzou takes the lead in the North.

Even if that happens NU will still have a tiebreaker with a head to head win against MU. All NU has to do is win their last 2 home games and the Big XII north title is theirs.

PastorMikH 10-28-2006 01:26 PM

The game is lost, but why did we spike there? The clock was stopped for the first down, we were to the line and waiting for them to start the clock so we could snap and spike. That's what OU expected as well. Why not just run one of the pass plays right there to the endzone?

Oh well.

That is correct. That's really the only way MU gets back in the north division race. It's a must-win for them.

Eleazar 10-28-2006 01:29 PM

If I were coaching this team Temple would be carrying a football to class with him and everywhere else for a while.

Except in the games, I mean, he wouldn't be touching one there for a long time.

We pretty much are what we are. The defense is becoming more porous by the week as injuries add up. We routinely give up 8, 9, 10 yard runs or more. And you're never going to win consistently if you have no semblance of a running game at all.

Even given all that garbage we still had a chance to get back into the game in the 3rd quarter. We don't need kooky playcalling on top of all our other faults.

I don't know if it is "Getting back" in the race as much as taking a lead in it. :hmmm:

Unlike Zach, my spirit is crushed after this game. Such a horrible, horrible performance. I might have to go into mourning if the Chiefs lose tomorrow :deevee:

Outside of Chase we had a combined 0 rushing yards.

We were soundly defeated by the best team we'll play all year. I can't really say I'm surprised.

What happened to Temple anyway? I thought he looked hurt after the fumble but I never heard the announcers say anything about it.

The fact that we had no running game sealed the deal for us. Had Chase had some help running the ball - or at least a RB that could actually pose a threat in the second half, the game could have been a lot different.

Gotta love the points following turnovers stat today - 19 of OU's 26 came as a result of Missouri screw ups.

Frazod 10-28-2006 02:46 PM

Sounds like I missed nothing but the end of an epic beatdown. Congratulations to OU. A few bad calls can't explain only being able to manage 10 fucking points at home.

We're still nothing more than second rate team fighting for the honor of a Texas beatdown. Oh well. :shake:

Pitt Gorilla 10-28-2006 02:52 PM

Terrible mistakes at bad times. Roughing the kicker, late hits, fumbles, picks, drops.

I read that OU is missing their star running back, and their starting QB was released from the team before the season started. I figured MU would have an easy time winning this game.

In came the Refs. Granted Mo wasted some opportunities it sure seems the Refs were a little over zealous witht he calls on Mo and willing to look the other way on some hits OU was laying out.

I am a Mizzou fan, and I didn't notice a bunch of shady officiating. The only thing I saw was the roughing the kicker, which was terrible, but other than that i thought it was good.

If we didn't have dumbasses clearing guys out after the play was done or trying to throw them down out of bounds then the flags wouldn't be flying.

Missouri made a piss-poor showing and deserved to be beaten even worse than we were.

Fu#&ing Mizzou did what fu%$ing Mizzou always does. They $hit in their helmets in a pivotal game.

As a lifelong Mizzou fan, I've been conditioned --no matter how promising a Mizzou team looks-- to expect eventual failure by the Tigers in big games.

I still say there was a late hit on Daniel and an illegal hit on our receiver on the sidelines. Both occured after the bulls hit roughing the kicker call.

Also on OU's first scoring drive they were stopped short of a 1st down and the Ref clearly gave them a good 1/2 yard or more.

I agree they wasted many opportunities but that doesn't excuse the Refs BS calls and non-calls.

After the Oregon game and a few terrible calls in the Texas game, I would say that this is the first time all season that OU has been on the plus side of the officiating.

My point is, it happens to every team. Get over it.

Whining about the refs in a game where you lost by 16 at home just reeks of a crybaby. Your offense did nothing when it mattered.

Actually the Roughing the Punter bogus call completely turned the tide of the game.....Mizzou had stopped OU and was only 6 points down. Regardless of how you want to paint it, that call was a momentum changer.

Having said that, you can't make all the mistakes that the Tigers did and expect to overcome normal adversities. A dropped pass that was a sure TD....3 or 4 fumbles that we lost...poor playcalling on 1st and Goal...and a punter who couldn't outkick my daughter.
