While faceguarding would be a penalty in the NFL, it is legal in college football. Joiner pushed the Kentucky WR after/as the ball hit him in the back. Legal play. You don't have to turn around and look for the ball in college.

Re-read what I said.....by any chance did you see me say he was faceguarding? I SAID he pushed the guy OOB before the ball hit him in the back. You are assuming I don't know my rules...I know you don't have to turn and see the play in College.

Oh...and btw, I DO have to know the rules.....if I want to continue to do officiating that I do.

We saw it differently. I saw the ball hit him before or as he pushed the WR. Moot point, considering KY scored on the next play.

The announcers seemed to agree with me. Neither are "homers" for Florida.

Florida gets a must-win against a very good Kentucky team and is back in 1st place in the SEC East!!

Hope to make it out to Jax next weekend for Fla-Ga.

It's turning out to be a game of survival for the BCS. Looks like most of the teams going to the BCS bowls will have 2 loses.

Except Nebraska. :D

But seriously, it's pretty good. I'm gonna catch some flack for this, but I think the North is KSU's to lose. KU, while looking good, I think will lose to A&M or OSU and Mizzou. That leaves it up to the Cats to win out and take the North.

For some perspective, NFLDraftCountdown has Nelson as the 43rd best Senior Wide Receiver prospect in the country.

I don't know of anyone else who thinks of him as a 1st day pick and I can think of a good number of receivers who he definitely won't go before.

Lzen 10-20-2007 07:37 PM

Uh oh. KSU driving and a player fumbles the ball at the OSU 4.

Don't doubt your research, but have those sites been updated since the start of the season?

It's probably a little harsh, but I think it's closer than reality than him being a first day pick. They also have him with a 4.6 40, which probably contributes a bit to his placement.

It has been updated since the start of the season, but it could probably use another. Either way, as I said, there's a good number of just senior receivers who Nelson isn't going to go ahead of. Maybe some team falls in love with the kid and is willing to use a 3rd rounder on him, but at this point I don't see how he goes in the first 3 rounds.

Hey I said that same thing in another thread...

He'll get picked but WR is an extremely deep position where tons of guys will get picked so going on the 2nd day isn't an insult, maybe the Chiefs will use a 4th or 5th on him that would be solid...provided the 3 first day picks can all start right away.

While I don't think Jordy is a 1st rounder, I don't think it's out of the question that he is a 3rd or even a 2nd rounder.

As a Chiefs fan, I wouldn't mind that a bit.

Mecca 10-20-2007 07:46 PM

For Nelson to be a 1st day pick you are essentially saying you think best case scenario at least 15-20 WR's are going in the first 2 rounds.

I tend to agree. He won't get picked in the 1st round, but I would not be surprised to see some team grab him in the first day.

They should try to target a 4th or 5th round WR, this should probably be it for Kennison and Parker...

Personally I think they need DT 2 olineman a corner and a WR..then they can use the rest of the picks to fill some role spots like Jason Dunn and returner.

Just a rough guestimate, but I'd say 10 or so receivers might go on the first day. Nelson would have to go ahead of a bunch of guys that he has no business going ahead of just to break the 3rd round IMO.

Basileus777 10-20-2007 07:52 PM

Nelson has day-one potential, but only if he runs a good 40. If he runs a sub 4.5, then he has a chance.

That's saying a lot with that 4.6 time, he may play faster than he times but that kills guys on draft day.

Definitely. I doubt Nelson has great timed speed, but I'm not sure how accurate Wright's 4.6 listing is. But thats why the combine exists, its very difficult to project players like Nelson this early.

Mecca 10-20-2007 07:56 PM

We'll have 2 4ths this year.....if they took Eddie Royal and Jordy Nelson, I'd be pretty satisfied with that.
