Christina Hendricks didn't win best supporting actress in a Drama Series. I'm wondering why the girl who plays Peggy wasn't nominated.

When the **** is this show coming back?

Can't believe neither Hamm or Moss won for their performance in "The Suitcase." Although I have to say that if Hamm couldn't win for any season, there are no 2 better people to lose to than Bryan Cranston and Kyle Chandler. Both have pulled off absolutely the most amazing portrayals of their characters. I don't really think I can see either actor in any role ever again without automatically thinking about Walter White / Eric Taylor.
The same can be said with Hamm. I am pretty confident that Mad Men season 5 will bring the heat and that Hamm will finally win his Emmy for his portrayal of Don Draper. Bryan Cranston has been absolutely lights out this season too, but I think that it's time for Hamm to get his. I am almost certain that Aaron Paul will win the Emmy next year too. You can choose from any number of "Breaking Bad" episodes this season and pick a winner with him. He's such an amazing actor. |
Back tonight, two hours.
I've never watched, but I'm dvring it just to see what I think. |

It's not the best episode, but it's damn good. Don't want to give away the best episodes before you watch. |
Or you could get caught up on the first 4 seasons in 7 minutes.

I'm an ad exec and my wife has never done the zoobie zoobie zoo song/dance for me. That "bean ballet" meeting struck very close to home, though.

Don Draper is Scott Pioli Sr? 'Please, this is a process."

Favorite part.

M. Weiner: "A central aspect of this season coming up is 'what's wrong with Don's marriage.' And you KNOW already, you've been TOLD, but it's not what you think."
Thoughts? |

What could be wrong with a serial adulterer's marriage?
|
That Sally is going to murder Megan? That could create a strain on the relationship...
(Seriously, Sally is a future bunny boiler) |

Also, I liked the "progressive against our will" idea. Nice podcast. Thanks. :thumb: |
Did January Jones put on weight or was that prosthetics?

They ever find out who the father was, other than that he was a married co-star on X-Men? |
FWIW, the blessing at the end was a blessing for a child. Like from a father to a son. "May god watch over you, etc etc..."

Nice episodes so far. Excellent writing and acting as always. There is no way thats the real January Jones even in full preggo. That was a great fat suit.
I loved the French gal's dance but hate her charector. She is either going to bring this season down or create some great scenes. |
Canadian!

I finally got around to watching the season premiere. Not too bad. A bit slow and soap opera for my tastes, but I knew that going in. I'll keep watching.
|
I don't know what to think. I think John Hamm being on so much shit coupled with the fact that this show has been off air so long has stiffled my mad men boner. Also I really just wanted to see how they handled 1963. I wasn't around then but it always seemed like that was the darkest day in American History and if America could get through that they could get through anything (atleast for dons lifetime)

Liked the second episode a bit more than the first couple of hours. The subplot with Betty's tumor really worked for me.
|
the addict in me wants them them to address the alcoholic that gets worst over time. He had cravings before, I wonder if he is going to have a **** up with his drinking or maybe he is just a "hard drinker" LMAO That scene with the 14 year old rolling stone had me like uhhhh is he going to fondle this girl?

Less Betty and Henry = Better Episodes.
More Betty and Henry = **** you Matthew Weiner. |

Normally I find dream sequences like on tonight's Mad Men to be manipulative, but this one fit with the episode's theme of psychoanalysis.

I didn't really care for it.

"Dazzle me." LMAO

Is Don Draper gonna have to Choke a bitch?

For the first time in the history of that show, I found myself kinda liking Greg...and then Joan cut his nuts off.
The guy has had such a tough go of it professionally that you couldn't help but be happy for him to finally find a place where he felt needed and where he was clearly thriving. It's something most of us can relate to; just getting beat down for awhile until things finally seem to be locking into place. Granted - dick move not telling Joan - but Joan knows the kid isn't his and is being all twatish about it. That's incredibly selfish and immature on her part. Oh well - I'm still quietly holding out hope that they find Betty in a garbage sack at some point. |
Let's see, go back to Vietnam for a year, or hang out with this enormous red sex beast, who, against all odds, actually seems to want him around. That's a tough one.

But still, I couldn't help but be impressed by how he carried himself in uniform, the way he clearly understood what he was doing and why, etc... He just seemed like he'd matured a great deal. But don't worry, they'll probably blow him up now. Or he'll just get the Kinsey/Sal treatment where we never hear from him again. My understanding was that AMC was only able to get Weiner to start writing again after they agreed not to cut the production values if he agreed to cut some cast members. Greg may be one of those cuts. Wouldn't be surprised if they killed Burt off at some point as well. |

best episode in awhile, last night...

That was the most enjoyable episode of the season from an entertainment standpoint. It was probably a better episode than the premier, too.
|
It was aight
|
The ending of last night episodes was epic.
|
John Slattery directed last night. I think he took some inspiration from Breaking Bad. The use of that drip, some of the camera wipes, and the way that the episode made dark and/or violent moments funny seemed pretty Breaking Bad to me.
|
I eagerly await a fight club/mad men mashup

Pete Campbell episodes are always the best, IMO.
I hope that's not it for the season though. Same goes with Lane. |

Theme of having everything equates to having nothing, Pete doesn't survive the season..

It's a rare show that can make me feel bad for a guy who both cheats on his wife and gets cockblocked when he wants to cheat on his wife. And then Don Draper becomes the moral compass?

Pete Campbell death would be one of the biggest in TV history. |
loved Pete getting his ass kicked. that was so satisfying.

I still just can't make myself hate Pete.
He's an arrogant little shit that wants everything now. At the same time, he's clearly a very talented account man. It's not his ability that causes him trouble, but his eagerness and his ambition. He's simply terminally dissatisfied by where he is because it's not where he wants to be. In other words, he's the same as a TON of young professionals out there, especially talented young professionals. Professionally, he sees people ahead of him that he's clearly outperforming and is frustrated that he doesn't have the grey in his temples to get the accolades they do. Domestically he's put himself into the life that an upwardly mobile young executive is supposed to have and has realized (like most young execs) that he didn't want that life. In ten years he will, but he doesn't right now. They won't kill him. At least I hope they won't. Roger is right in that "When the job is going well, it can fulfill all your needs" and you can see that in the very near future, the job will be going extremely well for Pete Campbell. He's just caught in that tortuous middle ground that comes with being in your late 20s/early 30s, knowing what you want and seeing a clear path to it, but just not being there yet despite knowing you'll get there someday. Pete deserved to get his ass kicked - but in the end pretty much everyone on that show...or anywhere really...deserves to get their ass kicked at least once. Hell, Lane is no angel himself. Ultimately Pete's dissatisfaction comes from runaway ambition - I can handle that. I like him a hell of a lot more than Peggy, who's dissatisfaction comes from indecision about who she wants to be and a general sense of whininess and entitlement that's pretty damn unreasonable for someone that got plucked out of the secretarial pool. |

We finally get to see the little worm get his ass kicked and they have to try to make us feel sorry for Pete?

Meh. Wouldn't be much of a show without Pete.
