Our schedule is almost the exact same scheule San Diego has. Both of us played four 1st place teams from last year, four 2nd place teams, four 3rd place teams, and four 4th place teams. Here are the schedules...

Chargers:

1st Place teams
New England
@Indianapolis
Arizona
@Cincinnati

2nd Place teams
@Houston
Denver
@Denver
San Fran

3rd Place teams
@Seattle
Oakland
@Oakland
Tennessee

4th Place teams
@St. Louis
KC
@KC
Jax

Chiefs:

1st Place teams
San Diego
@ Indianapolis
Arizona
@San Diego

2nd Place teams
@Houston
Denver
@Denver
San Fran

3rd Place teams
@Seattle
Oakland
@Oakland
Tennessee

4th Place teams
@St. Louis
Buffalo
@Cleveland
Jax

Pretty much the same setup applys for Oakland and Denver. Yet we are the team leading the AFC West. We don't need to apologize to anyone.

Hammock Parties 12-17-2010 01:23 PM

The Chargers blew the Colts out, blew the Chiefs out, blew the Jags out (with their real QB, not a hayseed) and competed down to the wire with the Patriots.

They're undeniably a better team than the Chiefs.

So if we finish 11-5, and the Chargers finish 10-6, we probably should call the commissioner and ask him if we could send the Chargers to represent the AFC West because they are clearly the better team?

I think if goatcheese had his way that would happen. For whatever reason the resurgence of the Chiefs has caught him off guard and he has to feed his hate somehow.

I bet if the Chiefs would by some chance make it to the SB he will be rooting for the other team just so he can say "I told you they are frauds".

The Chargers are unquestionably the more talented team, but the better team is the one that is prepared to play when the games start.

If the Chiefs win out and and win the division, it will be because the Chargers, as they have every season since Norvelle took the helm, were not prepared to play when the games start.

Someone should inform the Chargers that the first half of the schedule counts every bit as much as the second half.

Your constant stroking of the Chargers is going on deaf ears over here. Don't you have anything better to do? With an average of 1000 post per month, apparently not. :hmmm:

You need to make a new video. I will say those are at least entertaining. :clap:

Why do you make a point of referencing how the Jags had a key injury when the Chiefs played them, yet there's no such mention of the numerous injuries the Colts had when they played San Diego? Or the key injury to the Chiefs, for that matter.

I mean, it's almost like you're purposely trying to skew the argument in your favor.

And the Chargers haven't had a ridiculous rash of injuries?

Besides, who cares about injuries? The Chargers BEAT THE CRAP out of the Colts and Chiefs.

The Chiefs would have a legit win on their record if Garrard had actually started that game instead of Bouman. Too bad.

bobbything 12-17-2010 02:34 PM

At 10-6, I could easily make an argument that we were a better team in 2005 than both Jacksonville (who finished 12-4) and the Bengals (11-5). Yet, they both made the playoffs, both got home games, and both got boatraced.

The bottom line is, who cares?

At this moment in time the Chiefs have 8 legitimate wins on their record.

When all is said and done the way you get the wins has absolutely nothing to do with the record. You are creating many enemies here. It might be time for you to go back to WPI and do your stuff there. Oops, I forgot.. they cleaned that place up and you can't do as you do her when posting there.

I think we can all agree there's a difference in an injury to a starting QB vs a tight end or a wide receiver.

The Chiefs blew out the Jags because Bouman couldn't do crap in the second half of that game.

The Chargers blew out the Chiefs because they were a legit better team.

Clear?

Considering that they've been drafting well for about 10 years, they damn well better be better than the Chiefs. Your idea that a team that is just getting past the rebuliding stage is a fraud because they're not better than a team that is playing of late like the best team in football?

Your standards are ridiculous. There were plenty on board with your idea that the Chiefs aren't going far in the playoffs and very likely lose out their first round. Myself included. If you want to sell to a bunch of homers that this team isn't going to be dangerous in the playoffs, fine. But you're trying to sell to more rational fans that this team isn't significantly improved? Isn't progressing significantly? Doesn't belong in the playoffs? Are only winning easy games (nevermind that these were exactly the games the team has been losing the past few years)?

That's why almost nobody is supporting you in your "jump off the ledge" comments. You've taken a reasonable position to an extreme that nobody stands behind.

Okay, so the Chiefs' win doesn't count because Bowman played like crap in the second half.

But the Chargers win counts in spite of Croyle playing like worse crap in the first AND second half.

Got it.

Hammock Parties 12-17-2010 02:52 PM

We haven't significantly improved, and last week's game is proof, as is the total collapse of our run defense.

If we were significantly improved we wouldn't have gone into San Diego and laid down like the 2009 Chiefs.

I think it's pretty obvious Bouman cost the Jaguars that game. They were in it until he self destructed.

The Chiefs were getting their asses kicked on both sides of the ball for the entire game against San Diego. Huge, huge difference.

Yet the Bolts beat the Chiefs with Croyle at the helm, and that does qualify as a legit win... but when the Cheifs win over Jax with Bouman QB'ing it does not. :hmmm:

You would have to be blind or reeruned to not think that we have improved as a team. To be talking about playoffs with 3 weeks to go.....To have 8 wins so far, and be guaranteed a .500 season....You seriously have to be an idiot or just completely ignorant to believe that the 2010 Chiefs are not an improvement over the last few years....Oh wait, you're both...Carry on.

Last year, we don't beat anybody. Good, bad, ugly, testicular cancer ugly. This year, we're clubbing the bad teams, heavily competing with the average to slightly below average, and we got clubbed once by one of the hottest teams in football in a game where we didn't have our starting QB and subbed in a guy who threw for less than 50 yards.

That's significant improvement.

What's clear here is that you can say Jacksonville lost because Garrard wasn't there but when the Chiefs lose Cassel it's because SD was better?

The Jaguars were not running the ball well that game. Their defense played like shit. Todd Bouman was the only reason the Jags were in that game. The Chiefs dominated the Jags in every facet of the game but the pass defense.
At least Todd Bouman gave the Jags a half. Brodie Croyle didn't even give the Chiefs a minute.

By the way, at this point, Cassel > Garrard. Bouman >> Croyle. The QB gap is far more significant. It's not like Garrard is head and shoulders better than Bouman. Far from it.

Croyle played negatively. Jamarcus Russell negatively. Don't act like Croyle starting didn't have any impact on the game. We still don't know how the Chiefs would have fared with Cassel in the lineup. Different gameplan, different game if the Chiefs convert for first downs, rested defense. We don't know.

It's funny that you're still trying to act as if the Broncos game somehow defrauded this team.

Teams are allowed to have bad games. That was the first game all season where the Chiefs were not competitive. And they came back and beat the Broncos, despite continually shooting themselves in the foot.

Or that the Oakland game is somehow significant. The Chargers are good. They are arguably the most talented team in the league. With good coaching that gets them motivated to play week in and week out, they are easily Super Bowl favorites. When they are motivated to play, they are simply unstoppable. "When."

Just because the Chargers played like they were supposed to play (given that they have drafted well for 10 years) doesn't prove that the Chiefs are fraudulent. It just proves that the Chargers' early season losses were fraudulent.

The Chiefs are outperforming expectations. The Chargers are wildly underperforming expectations.

Stop trying to act like the Chiefs should somehow be scolded for not being as good as the Chargers. They're not supposed to be.

Roll back the tape and you will see passes squirting away from Rivers and his receivers for two solid quarters, if not more.

And McCluster got lucky. He's the biggest fraud of them all, clearly. On a dry field, he's tackled.

We could win a home game. That would make a team hungry even if they get stomped in the next round. Losing the lead in the division, and missing the POs will not help anything.......at all...nothing....whatsoever.

I agree with Frankie about whether or not we make the playoffs ... we are headed in the right direction. I think Haley has a real chance of being a very good coach. We do have a great staff ... who challenge each other and that makes them better. A few more very talented players and we are in the mix.

I agree with Beach Tribe that winning the division would be a major step. All of those young guys will have a taste of going through the experience, which will greatly help in the coming years.

Plus, if we win the division and play at Arrowhead, we will have a much better chance of winning our first playoff game since 1993 or some ancient number. That's gotta be a good thing to shut down smack talk.

But, and this is not insignificant ... if we win the division ... SD sits at home!!! Nice!!!

Outstanding game by our run defense so far. Only 41 yards on 12 carries for Jackson. Keep it up.

You were saying?

More than you, woman. Don't ever forget it.

I'll eat crow if we stop Chris Johnson and NOT BEFORE!

You REALLLLYYYY need to make a thread saying that there's no way we win the superbowl this year....or better yet, no way we win a superbowl every year for the next 5 years.

He eats crow all the time. He'll still stir up shit, but he eats crow.

Eh, whatever.

I think we give up at least 300 rushing yards over the next two weeks.

What makes you think that? We go up a couple td's against tennessee and they'll abandon the run. The raiders on the other hand I don't believe will be so easy to stop

This sounds like we have some kind of juggernaut offense. We don't. The Titans allow only 3.9 YPC and get after the quarterback. I don't like this matchup at all.

I think this will be a close game and the team who gets better play out of their QB wins. We'll need at least 21 to win.

Commit2Excellence 12-21-2010 12:36 PM

I wouldn't worry too much about Johnson. He tends to run laterally and the 3-4 is well equipped to deal with that. I think the Titans would be better off starting Ringer and using Johnson more as a change of pace back.

Your predictions have been ****ing horrendus so I take comfort in this.

On Sirius today, they were discussing how the rumor in Tennessee is the players might tank the last 2 weeks to ensure Fisher gets fired.

I'm counting on them being 3 games back and they won't show up.
