Smith trying to become a legend

MMXcalibur 01-08-2012 02:07 PM

Tony Gonzalez is about to go 0-135381759018745901875 in playoff games.

tk13 01-08-2012 02:08 PM

That one was easy to figure out.

mlyonsd 01-08-2012 02:08 PM

LOL. Screw atlanta.

stonedstooge 01-08-2012 02:08 PM

And cements it

Chiefs Pantalones 01-08-2012 02:08 PM

The Falcons are soft

Munson 01-08-2012 02:08 PM

Terrible decision by Atlanta. Take the easy points and kick the FG.

tk13 01-08-2012 02:08 PM

On the flipside. People complain coaches aren't aggressive enough and should go for it all the time on 4th and inches. Well, Mike Smith is doing that, and it's going to cost him his job.

O.city 01-08-2012 02:09 PM

I dunno why teams don't try and run to the outside in that situation. Just flip it to Julio jones and he probably scores there on the reverse action.

Dartgod 01-08-2012 02:10 PM

Heh.

Mr. Laz 01-08-2012 02:10 PM

Nicks!!!

i wanted him in the draft :(

Dylan 01-08-2012 02:10 PM

OMG! TD Nicks 72 yds

thanks, eli

Al Czervik 01-08-2012 02:10 PM

Is Atlanta's coach TRYING to get fired?

That's easy to say in hindsight. If you get it, you're smart, if you don't, you're an idiot. Last year the Chiefs tried to run it outside on 4th and inches against the Ravens in the playoffs, failed, and people thought it was stupid.

Deberg_1990 01-08-2012 02:13 PM

Ryan is no elite QB and Mike Smith should be fired tomorrow.

Falcons are worse than the Broncos.

'Hamas' Jenkins 01-08-2012 02:27 PM

FWIW, I thought that I was way off with my original analysis of Matt Ryan. I said that his absolute upside was Matt Hasselbeck. Now, I wonder if that was too optimistic. He hasn't improved at all since his rookie year.

He really hasn't.

I was really high on him for a while, but he doesn't do anything that really wows you.

He actually reeks of game manager.

So, if Denver wins their game today (you know if the stars all align just right)... how does Tebow compare to the likes of Ryan?

Not gonna happen buddy.I expect Tebow to get his ass knocked off today. That running back/QB shit ends for him today.

Setsuna 01-08-2012 02:32 PM

The going for it on 4th down isn't the problem. It's the damn 2 points in a freaking playoff game. Seattle would've played better. Heck even St. Louis would've scored more than 2.

He doesn't compare. Two completely different styles of QB play. In terms of playoff play though, I guess he'd be better in managing the game.

The funny thing is that Ryan doesn't understand how to execute a QB sneak. The mantra has been drilled in over and over to wait for a half a count before you bulldoze into the line. Had he waited, he would have seen the left side of the Giants' DL collapsing, which would have enabled him to fall forward for the first down yardage.

Unfortunately for Falcons fans, he has the Karl Malone gene. He panicked, ass****ed the center, and got stopped.

BigMeatballDave 01-08-2012 02:35 PM

White took a swing. Can't believe he wasn't flagged

The Bad Guy 01-08-2012 02:35 PM

Tebow doesn't compare to any QB who can actually throw with accuracy and complete better than 60% of his passes in a game.

If the Broncos win, it's because of defense. Not because of some Tebow miracle.

If Denver wins today and it occurs without

A) Roethlisberger getting hurt

or

B) Denver forcing three or more TOs, I won't post for a year.

Buck 01-08-2012 02:36 PM

Has Atlanta at least missed a FG or turned the ball over on downs in Giants territory? This just seems pathetic.

Simply Red 01-08-2012 02:37 PM

it's crazy just how fast the losing teams have shit themselves this weekend.

Just be sure to go full Dane McCloud if that happens.

Dylan 01-08-2012 02:42 PM

the giants use 4 DEs on the defensive line .... fewell's scheme uses few blitz pkgs. the DEs make up for the giants horrible secondary

injuries to key players on the giants secondary has killed them all year -- no excuse, though. oh, prince looks like a bust.

love the chiefs defense ... excellent secondary -- j/m/o flowers should have made the pro bowl this year.

I would be quoting this for posterity. But given his ankle, any wince or limp in-game would just result in rounds and rounds of debate over the definition of 'hurt'

That said, I'm envisioning 7-3 or 10-3 in the 4th. Dad only knows what happens from there.

Setsuna 01-08-2012 02:44 PM

Falcons GM thought Ryan was the QBOTF and sold their 2011 and 2012 drafts to prove it. He needs to step down.

Let's just clarify then: Unless he has to be seen by the trainers and miss multiple plays, "hurt" doesn't qualify.

Hootie 01-08-2012 02:46 PM

I remember years ago on this board when I said I'd trade anything for Eli Manning and was laughed at...those were fun times.

Easily a top 5 QB, clutch performer as well.

Rodgers, Brees, Brady, P. Manning

and then...

Eli/Romo/Roethlisberger

I think those are the top two tiers of NFL QB's right now
