Nice.

I got a Zoom foot controller with the ZFX software package on eBay a while back.

It has emulators for all kinds of shit - vintage Marshalls, Orange, way, muff, all kinds of stuff. It's pretty awesome. I can dial up pretty much any sound I want.

The Poz 01-24-2014 03:03 PM

Interesting. Haven't heard of many good Orange replicas. Not even the Orange remakes.

It's not an actual amp, it's a computer program. It sounds pretty good for $80, considering a small 50W Orange is like a grand.

I dig it! 80's metal with serious edge. Look like they'd be fun to see live. I must look them up.

KC homies Keef Mountain are playing the show.

That's really not half bad, those guys have potential... lets face it, its only a matter of time before 80's style rock makes a comeback, if the cycle goes as usual it should start happening any day now.

Maroon 5, Black Keys, Snow Patrol or whatever other stuff is going on now... that's just not gonna cut it forever, at some point people are gonna wanna ROCK again..

I wouldn't lump Black Keys in there with Maroon 5 and Snow Patrol. Some good heavy guitar rock is out there…just not necessarily 80s style metal. Black Keys, The Heavy, anything that Jack White is a part of, Black Motorcycle Club, etc.

There are remnants of the 80's metal SOUND everywhere. The problem is that, as the 80's came to a close, the "sound" became power ballads and the "music" became music videos of guys with girl hair.

80's commercial metal survives to this day in a great many bands that it influenced to varying degrees. Even some of these stoner bands were influenced by it (even if they won't admit it).

Actually, they put out an album in late 2012 and have been touring lately. At least until Justin starts the smack again.

And you should like this song. They're a GREAT band. You have to acknowledge the fact that they're really not serious about it and just enjoy it for what it is - mindless rocking fun.

Black Metal but certainly an influence on many of the Stoner/Doom bands out there today. A classic.

Lol @ KC. Due to a shooting incident outside the original venue, this show has been moved to a small record store in KC causing a couple of the local stoner bands to be dropped from the bill.

This Windhand show has been moved to the Riot Room tomorrow. It's a free show at midnight. Local stoners Keef Mountain and Hosferatu are playing a pre-show at Mills Record store around the corner, free as well.

That Unida song you posted way back is still my favorite song in this thread, that song is just a freakin piledriver... followed by that foreign chick band and then probably this.

I'm re-listening to the Nirvana concert I posted right now, but as soon as its over I'm gonna go back and check those first two out again, its been awhile.

John 5 made the show, IMO.

He came out for the first set wearing some kind of alien body armor, complete with green LEDs, and his signature Telecaster guitar was made out of clear acrylic and filled with that yellow/green shit that they put in glow sticks. :D

This isn't stoner/doom but it definitely deserves a mention. Best Priest album since Painkiller, maybe longer. A lot of really groovy riffs on this album.

I'm deeply in love with the new Water Torture record, Pillbox. Dual bass and drum trio. Definitely more experimental grindcore as opposed to straight up doom, but they've tuned this one low for an even bleaker than usual listen.

Good night, that was one of the best pieces of visual art to go along with music that I've ever watched... great music, powerful... and this clip did nothing but help it, where did they find all of that old shit?

Awesome, it makes me kinda miss the old MTV... these guys did an incredible job fitting the scene to the music, in a word... haunting.

Also liked the new Uncle Acid stuff, far more groovy and melodic than the other song or two I've listened to... makes me wanna get baked and go look at a sunset out in the woods.

I hear ya loud and clear. Right away, this Windham vid reminds me of the stage visuals at the Mastodon shows. I've never been a huge Mastodon fan but I have seen them live a few times and found myself just staring at the backdrop. The graphics and the way they sync them up to their music is incredible. Right up my alley, especially when I'm a bit tuned up. :bong:

Next Saturday is the Midwest Stoner & Doom Fest in KC. The venue is a little wack, but my blunt buddies Keef Mountain are playing and I'm looking forward to hearing Wichita's Snowchild. Full lineup:

Fuzz And Fire Midwest Stoner-doom Fest

Lord Fowl
Nest Of Snakes
Keef Mountain
Hossferatu
Youngblood Supercult
Merlin
From The West
Snowchild

The new YOB album, "In Our Blood" is doom as ****.

This new Fistula full length is dirty. They paired up with the best DIY label, imo, TLAL.

So this fest was pretty bad. At one point, I saw a fat guy in sweatpants push an office chair to the front of the stage so he could sit and watch one of the bands.

That said, my scouting report paid off and Snowchild (I know, right) absolutely killed it. Straight up Ozzy worship, but these guys were good.
