Winston doesn't do his job again this week causing Cassel to get hurt and then blames it on the fans. Typical douchebaggery from someone that went to "the u".

Our next banner should be a counter punch towards this.

Right now Pioli is more worried about our banner and reactions than whats on the field.

We must keep the pressure on.

frankotank 10-08-2012 02:20 PM

I can't help but find it absolutely amazing that people who were actually at the game could possibly disagree on whether Cassel's injury was cheered or not!
even if you were in close proximity to some folks that were cheering the injury, I wouldn't think it would have been to hard to decipher whether or not the rest of the crowd was doing likewise. and I have YET to see any video evidence that support the Chiefs crowd being dicks. every video I've seen, the cheering dies down just after the runner is tackled....only to pick up again when Cassel gets up. in one video after the cheering dies down you can hear one clown yell "get off the field". very douchesque. but just one dude.
the conflicting stories.....I don't get it.

The driving force behind the booing story is a fiery sound bite from a player, plain and simple. In this 24 news cycle, the media will latch onto any "story" that they're able to take a stance on, regardless the facts. It's the world we live in, and Pioli has nothing to do with it.

National media latches on to it and even when it's proven that what Winston said didn't happen they won't change the story because it doesn't make for as good a story.

jd1020 10-08-2012 02:27 PM

My favorite part about the whole thing is that Cassel goes down after dumping the ball off the Charles and then Charles runs for like 13 yards and gets a first down. People start cheering. Then Cassel isn't getting up and you don't hear cheers anymore, you just hear the collective noise of 60000+ people in the same area. When he gets up people clap and cheer with the players. And the story is that the fans were cheering when he was down and didn't stop. Mike Golic was dogging the fans and said that he cheers for the big hit, blah blah blah, but when I see the guy is hurt I stop... kinda like the fans at the game, idiot.

I wonder how many of these dumbasses sounding off on Winston's rant have actually seen the play.

The timing of the play was strange, thus the different opinions. Jamal busts a long play, crowd cheers. 25 yards behind that, Cassel had been knocked down but the play didn't look particularly vicious. Most fans' attention was on Charles down the field. It was 5-10 seconds after he was tackled that many realized Cassel was down. He started to get up, then went back down. There was a discernible "cheer" from a few when he went back down and just stayed there. I'm not the only one that heard it, as the group of people in my section actually discussed it.

This is all an elaborate ploy by Pioli. He signed the team's RT of the future, but didn't realize he had a big mouth.

Now when the Chiefs draft in the top 5, he has an excuse to go get that premier RT from Iowa that he's always wanted.

Have you forgotten, "Get over it.", Mr. htismaqe?

Herm had some of that asshole thing going on, but Pioli takes the cake ... ass, crack, curly hair, anal cavity, and all.

I swear that, if Chiefs fans were not deep-down, genuinely nice, salt-of-the-earth, understanding people who are willing to give others the benefit of the doubt and forgive and forget as necessary, Pioli wouldn't last through the season. Does anyone think for a moment that his bullsh*t would go over in New York or Philadelphia or Boston? Teams in those cities laugh at us ... just like the commissioner used to do.

Why? Because this franchise and this regime are a joke ... and the joke is on the fans, 100%. I hate to say it, but it's true ... this is one of those times when I'm really glad I don't live there so I can get away from the influence the team has.

We're no closer to fielding a winner now than we were the day he came to town. Arguably, we're much further away. Meanwhile, he has managed to help turn the national media against fans that have been the most forgiving, the most loyal, and the most supportive of any fan base in any sport ... in spite of being one of the worst run, most inept organizations in the league.

Pioli is a cull.

It's so true. I was fortunate to receive some great free seats with a parking pass yesterday. I've never been a season ticket holder, so I've only really felt the emotional pain of fandom, not the financial pain that many of you have. I took my 10 year old son. Assuming we'd paid for the two seats ($240, midfield 20 rows up), a parking pass ($32!!!), 2 hot dogs and 2 drinks......I'd have spent $300 on that joke of a game yesterday. I don't know how some of you do it. I respect the heck out of our season ticket holders who continually subject themselves to this franchise's mismanagement and misfortune, all while giving up huge sums of money to do so.

To think that this fan base as a whole is now being criticized in any way is a complete farce.

The most important position in sports is the biggest problem on this team. You fix that you'll be amazed with the transformation.

Once again, Matt Cassel is not the only problem with this team. I never said he wasn't a huge problem.

He's not the only problem.

He is the biggest.

A good QB and they're 3-2.

My guess is the 49ers felt the same way about their QB 3 years ago.

That's fair, but some of the same people that were killing Cassel 3 years ago (i.e. when many of his newly minted 'fans' were still singing his praises), were quick to point out the vast talent gap between Cassel and Smith.

The folks that were blaming Smith for all the problems in SF were, to put it mildly, wrong. That doesn't mean they wouldn't be pretty damn accurate here. Matt Cassel has never had the talent of Alex Smith and if we had a true 'game manager' of Smith's caliber as opposed to a 'shitty quarterback' like Matt Cassel, we'd be a darkhorse contender.

The #1 overall pick with the talent to back it up. Being picked that high makes it about whats inside. Thats not the deal with Matt. He has issues with physical and mental QB actions. If I thought Matt had half his skills that just needed to be used correctly I wouldn't have given up on him. He doesn't.

Around the Horn:

Plashke and Cowleshaw(sp?) both agreed that the fans are being misrepresented

Woody applauded Winston defending his teammate but didn't comment on the cheering itself.

Jones said nobody would cheer Quinn, so it must be cheering the injury

PTI:

Wilbond and Cornheiser both agree cheering was wrong, never attempt discussing other reasons for cheering.

No way would Matt ever have a game like Smith had yesterday. Ever lol

If you don't know that we are hoping for a new QB this year, this is pretty sound logic. I do also wish people knew we weren't all crazy thinking Quinn will be the savior. Covitz semi-implied that when he defended us on Cowherd this morning.

Eh maybe. The Defense couldn't stop shit the first two games, and it's hard to say they would of won last week with a different QB.

With that said, 2-3 compared to 1-4 is a huge difference considering the current state of the AFC West.

If Cassel were worth a shit, they beat SD.
