I will be delivering in this shit tomorrow. I'm hoping my routes will be light. I don't mind driving in snow, its the other idiots driving around me that scares the shit out of me.

alpha_omega 02-20-2013 09:50 PM

Working from home tomorrow. Hope the kids stay out of my way.

Fwiw, our fancy looking space heater with realistic looking flames won't save us if we lose power. I know where we're going if that happens though. :D

I don't know why so many people are freaking out about that, I don't remember ever losing power from a winter storm. I know a lot got knocked out in that Oct 97 storm but that was a freak event that may never happen again.

I think there was a storm about 5 years ago that knocked it out for a half day or so. The neighbor said L & P told him it could be days so we packed up to stay with friends in Liberty. I think they restored power about 30 minutes after we left home.

We lost power last year. I'm not the least bit freaked out if it happens again though. We have plenty of candles and supplies from the zombie apocalypse that never happened. :D

Stanley Nickels 02-20-2013 10:21 PM

So, when is this supposed to hit? It looks on the maps like it's west of us, moving northwards faster than east.

Here is what weather.com says it will look like at 6:30am

007 02-21-2013 05:30 AM

Snow just hit Topeka. Heading out to do my job from home now.

HonestChieffan 02-21-2013 06:26 AM

Snowing with freezing rain thunder lightning bates County Mo

Mr_Tomahawk 02-21-2013 06:27 AM

Starting to come down harder here.

I think I can hear thunder to the south.

Mr_Tomahawk 02-21-2013 06:31 AM

Yup....lightning while its snowing is trippy.

007 02-21-2013 06:37 AM

Expecting snowfall to run at about a 2" per hour rate this morning. damn

More thundersnow here.

Mr_Tomahawk 02-21-2013 06:40 AM

Reality is that I would have no problem getting to work now,but the question is; how will conditions this evening on the way home. I have the option to remote in from home...but it is preferred that I work from the office if possible. What to do...what to do?

Stay home. If it were me, there is nothing more frustrating than taking an hour to get home on what is normally a 10 minute drive.

Wildcat2005 02-21-2013 07:08 AM

Are the roads terrible?

I just woke up, but work in the plaza

Trying to see if it is worth it to try to go in or not

ImAWalkingCorpse 02-21-2013 07:28 AM

Good thing is I work 15 minutes from home. Even better thing is there will be no one out when I get off work.

007 02-21-2013 07:28 AM

3 inches of snow already here in Topeka

KCrockaholic 02-21-2013 07:37 AM

Just took the lady into work. It's coming down HARD and heavy.... We'll see if she ends up stuck at work now.

But times like these I really miss my 88 Chevy.

Jerm 02-21-2013 07:48 AM

Getting lightning and thundersnow now here in Clinton....

Radar Chief 02-21-2013 08:09 AM

Lightening, sleet and snow all at once. Streets are slicker where they’ve plowed than what has been left untouched.

BigCatDaddy 02-21-2013 08:13 AM

Holy shit! My office closed today for the first time in the 8 years I've been there. Props to them for valueing the safety and lives of the employees.

Shogun 02-21-2013 08:18 AM

I got halfway to work today and realized how hard it was coming down, there would be a good chance I'd be stuck at work. So I turned around and told my boss that I wasn't coming in. Snow day

Stanley Nickels 02-21-2013 08:57 AM

Yeah, this is a pretty remarkable accumulation rate. Looks like we've got about four inches in the past two hours.. that, coincidentally, is the name of my wife's memoir, but I digress.

BigCatDaddy 02-21-2013 09:04 AM

Finally one that lives up the type. You're welcome all!

KCrockaholic 02-21-2013 09:05 AM

I've got a bad feeling I'm going to get stuck on my 3 minute trip to work.

Wildcat2005 02-21-2013 09:16 AM

There are like 15 cars stuck on the shawnee mission prkwy and I 35 intersection

Three7s 02-21-2013 09:17 AM

How in the hell places are still open in this storm is beyond me.

Pablo 02-21-2013 09:18 AM

Yeah, it's normally a 35 minute commute for me. Said **** it.

My fiancee left the house at 7:30 with nothing on the ground. Probably three or four inches since then, and her boss sent folks home already. So she's on her way back ATM.

CHENZ A! 02-21-2013 09:18 AM

lol. Because I don't want to walk 20 minutes in a blizzard. It's a 3 minute drive. 20 min walk.

Hell I saw a guy riding a bicycle in this shit at 7 AM. Was very amusing.

Mr. Laz 02-21-2013 09:43 AM

Sweet.

Stewie 02-21-2013 09:46 AM

Sheesh! What a mess. They closed our plant at 8:30 and it was a bitch getting home. My car is stuck in the driveway, but that's better than on the road where I saw plenty of cars stuck. There's 7-8" on the ground and it's still snowing like a mofo. Now I'm hoping the power stays on.

TribalElder 02-21-2013 09:46 AM

Wife's at work, left at 5 before it started. They're gonna put them all up in the hotel across the street. Of course, I told her last night to not to go in.

Frosty 02-21-2013 09:49 AM

Checking around on your traffic cams, it looks like a real mess. I'm glad I don't have to deal with it.

Fortunately, it's looking like our winter is about over. However, since I am getting my snow tires off tomorrow, I expect at least one more big snow storm to hit here before spring.

I had to go in just to turn back around hour later. Of course, we told our boss there was no reason to come in last night.

I'm pissed that that game went to 2OT last night. Drank all my ****ing Blvd. Now all I have left is Busch Light and Vodka. A couple Wheats in there somewhere.

Woke up at 6:30 am, barely starting to flurry. Left the house at 7am with half an inch of snow on the ground, drove 20 miles to work, and was sent home at 9:30, with over 3 inches on the ground, and drove 20mph all the way back BEHIND A ****ING JEEP WRANGLER. Jesus christ, YOU HAVE A ****ING JEEP, GET A MOVE ON.

That is all.
