Everyone said Randle was in the bag as a KU-commit. I don't buy shit until the LOI is signed.

And f**k twatter, who knows who any of these people are, why would anyone trust a thing they say?

Actually Randle was UK the whole time. There were signs but not a lot of people realized them until he officially picked and then went back and looked. Wiggins is a bit more in the dark. I'm not saying he's gonna be a Jayhawk but yeah.

Not before he wasted Bill Self's time last month flying down to Dallas to see his HS playoff game on Friday night, before a conference game vs. W Virginia the next day. He's a total *#($

it's the nature of the recruiting game when you're talking about the top 10 blue chippers in the country. shit like that happens all the time, it's happened in the past with that Malik Hairston guy...I thought Self had him wrapped up and he went all the way to Detroit at the last minute for his ass and he bowed out and went to ****ing Oregon at the last min.

That guy didn't really amount to shit, probably would have been a much better player had he played for Kansas.

Pablo 04-03-2013 07:47 PM

McD's game is on ESPN. Selden is starting for the East. Had a couple of good passes. Went to the hole hard and got fouled once.

Chiefs Pantalones 04-03-2013 07:47 PM

Love Selden's game. He seems to be meaner than BMac.

Chiefs Pantalones 04-03-2013 09:39 PM

Dumb kid.

My son's GF is a freshman at KU. According to her, the word around (people she knows that have classes with Rio) is that he's a total jack ass. Not hard to believe, I know. Knowing that will make it much easier to see him transfer.

I loved Sherron Collins. He was a great PG for KU. Well, until his last game when he played like total garbage. And then the idiot missed his plane for his NBA tryout or something. Obviously, the guy needed to get his %$#@ together at the end.

Yeah, I don't know why everyone is so focused on his shooting. Sure, players have off shooting nights. And Tharpe really wasn't great at shooting all year. But the eye test tells me that he was a much better PG on Friday against Michigan than EJ. I wish he would have been the one bringing the ball up at the end of that game. Fact is that EJ single handedly cost KU that game. I'm pretty sure Tharpe would have kept the game out of reach for UM.

I loved Sherron Collins too. He played with more intensity than just about any other player you'll ever see. He had his share of bad shooting nights where NOTHING would fall, but he wasn't a turnover machine who decided to come up small in the clutch like Elijah did at the end of his last game. Sherron would have shot that layup.

Because he was one of the worst shooters Self has ever had statistically, that would be why. He needs to be much better in that area next year.

Wouldn't have been hard. EJ was completely awful in that game.

Self believed in trusting the veteran and going with the guy that got them there, for good or bad. I can't disagree with his trust in him at all after all that they/he did over the last two years (particularly during the tourney run last year). It just didn't work out this time. It happens.

He looked like a more confident, aggressive and polished McLemore. Just so well-rounded. Due to the amount of talented OADs after next year I bet he stays for two years, depending on how he performs of course. He may play so well that it'd be impossible for him to stay.

Jalen Rose picked him to have the biggest impact next year and most impressive last night.

@abaker6sports: As of right now Rio Adams is looking to stay at KU. But until we hear confirmation from Self he is not a member of this team. #kubball

Not sure if Self will take him back....

Buehler445 04-05-2013 05:35 AM

It all depends on how it went down. If he was just going to up and go and then Self talked him into sticking it out I could see him taking Adams back. It seems unlikely but not impossible.

And  Selden.

Braincase 04-05-2013 05:42 AM

The end of the TT game showed that he has some skill. 10 points in 3 minutes? Not to too shabby, even in garbage time. That said, I think coach might talk to him about his propensity for drama. Some of the sideline antics are fun, but the drama gets a little tired.

After watching college basketball for almost 4 decades now, I am of the opinion that I'd take back nearly 95% of all players in these situations. College kids are still growing up, hell Anrio is like 19 now. They do rash things. Ty Taylor drove Self nuts and he was phenomenal as a Sr last year and has had a few appearances in the NBA this season for Brooklyn. If Anrio wants back, let him come back. He'll get 5-10 min/game this year since we have tons of PT avail.

So what you are saying is that a lot can change with a player from the time they are freshman to seniors and that what you see as a freshman isn't what you are going to see from them as a sophomore, junior & senior. Shocker.

Ready to take back your comments about Ellis yet?

He sucks so bad I can't even believe how bad he sucks. I've never, ever, been more disappointed with a player in almost 40 years of watching KU basketball. He was so overhyped it's not funny - altho some recruiting analysts did warn us all he has no athleticism. They were dead on.

Wearing a path in the carpet of my then girlfriend's living room. When Chalmers took the shot I actually jumped before it went in in anticipation and nearly got a haircut from the ceiling fan. Just like every other Jayhawk, when it went to OT, I said confidently, "This thing is OVER!" You could just feel it (though once OT started I was a bit more cautiously optimistic."

Sadly enough, I was in Lawrence when they lost to Syracuse, and alone in my apartment in Omaha when they beat Memphis. I had just started my first big project at a new job, and didn't even watch most of it live... didn't stop me from dancing around my apartment at the end of regulation and through OT, and still only got 3 or 4 hours of sleep.

We watched it at my friends apartment. It was a pretty nice evening in Lawrence that night so the doors and windows were cracked a little bit. It felt like everyone in the apartment complex was watching it together because with every shot made and every play the whole complex would scream and cheer. The energy was amazing. Absolutely unbelievable. Then when Chalmers hit that shot the whole place went (as well of course all of Lawrence) crazy. People going out on their balconies screaming stuff like "FIVE MORE MINUTES THIS IS OURS!" The amount of energy at that point could've moved mountains no joke. I knew the title was ours at that point. I didn't sit down the whole game. When the clock hit zero we all jumped up cheering and hugging. We all ran outside along with the others at the complex. Shortly after, we headed to Mass to join in on the madness. I'll never forget it. I didn't sleep that night. What a feeling.

On a hilarious unrelated note, in that same bar that I managed to hold myself together for a half at, I watched some NU football game (loss). Remember this is the Callahan years so it is ugly. I wanna say it was some big non-con game or something. Anyway, I was quiet, but this like 70 year old crusty ****er was yelling in the back about how they needed to go back to the option because they stopped winning when they put in these new fangled offenses.

I also remember telling my dad after the Chiefs went 2-14 that year that KU has to win the title or this is gonna be a sports suicide year lol.

That whole season I was confident KU was gonna win the title. I drove my KSU, MU friends nuts. Always saying stuff like I'm gonna watch my soon to be national champion Jayhawks I can't talk right now. Constantly having my Facebook statuses say 2008 NC Jayhawks about to play be back later. I received so much hate that year from my friends. It was nice to rub it in their faces the next day. I believe one of my MU friends saw me a week later and my first words were "told you." Awesome.

****in-a, man. My friends and I watched it at my roommate's and mine apartment. That night is one of the few really, really vivid memories of my life. We did the same thing with the balcony and everything (including throwing beer bottles and chairs down from it). I remember when Mario hit that three, we were all just hugging each other like crazy, toppling over onto the floor. Eventually, I couldn't contain myself and ran out in the hallway just banging on walls like a complete idiot.

After we won, we headed down to Mass street and it was just so nuts. You could literally feel the energy. It was like someone took pure happiness and just sprayed that shit all over the place. The crowd was so dense, people had drums going, dudes were climbing lightpoles and shit. Some guy climbed the super tall flagpole right outside that big ass US Bank on 9th and Mass (and stayed there forever, lol). My buddies lifted me up and I crowd surfed like half a block.

Goddamn, that was just an amazing night, full of drunken happiness. I lost my voice that night and couldn't speak at all till Thursday and then could only whisper for the next few days thereafter.

Saw that. Looks like Self told him to **** off

If Self let him back it would be like undermining his power. Not to mention, Rio has a lot of growing up to do mentally and at KU, where the expectations are high every year, Self can't afford to have a mental midget when he's trying to build chemistry and unity.

It's too bad. The kid could've grown into a player here if he were mature and patient.

He kept Tyshawn around, and that worked out towards the end.
