Trade Butler,Salvy, Shields, Hosmer, Moose, Gordon, Cain, Escobar, and Santana for prospects. We'll have a fire sale to beat all fire sales. In the trades, we acquire many promising prospects and the Royals are touted as having the best farm system in baseball.

Prospects appear to be developing in the minors in late 2015 to early 2016... Fans get a little excited.

Prospects make it to the MLB club in September 2016 and appear to be good players. Fans are certain the playoff drought will end next season!

Next season comes and pretty much everyone flops. They are all traded for prospects.

Rinse and repeat

Simply Red 05-27-2013 12:16 AM

Two questions here:

Do you guys really hate Ned Yost this much?

Isn't this like his fifth year or so, or is it less?

I think the first one to start a locker room brawl will be my favorite... It'll be the first step to the honesty this team needs to fix itself. In the pain of the honesty the wake of the fight will create will be the seeds of progress for this club to bear the fruit of winning.

It's not the fight I seek as much as the honesty it'll create. While it may not work, it can't hurt at this point.

We are doing the same with Hos and Moose.

None of these guys are getting the chance to be rookies.

I mean, FFS, Moose was batting cleanup to start the season. WHY?

Well, that's the problem with the Royals.....they don't spend the money for veteran big bats like a Pujols or Hamilton to help take pressure off of young guys....so then they have to rush prospects.....so what happens if they bust or struggle? Exactly what we have seen for the past decade. At least in the 90s they still spent money for veteran bats with pop..just had no pitching.

DeezNutz 05-27-2013 09:05 AM

We haven't put too much pressure on Moose or Hos. The problem lies in the fact that:
A. They're not that good
or
B. Our system doesn't develop talent properly.
or a combination of the both.

As it's been discussed and proven time and again, great players typically hit the ground running. Even the players who are typically trotted out to debunk this statement (Gordon and, to a lesser extent, Brett) never struggled to the depths of Moose and Hos. And Brett was good in year two, and outstanding from year three forward.

Frenchy is that guy. Seriously, that's why they hang on to Frenchy, to mentor the young players. He's the "veteran big bat."

DeezNutz 05-27-2013 09:06 AM

But as others have said, Yost is a problem. But Dayton Moore is the problem.

Getting yourself thrown out of the game doesn't do anything. I don't believe the players will perform any better if you get tossed. I DO believe in running out there when your player is carping at the umpire, but thats just to save your player from getting tossed. Then, go ahead and defend your player's honor for a while, and leave.

Losing your mind isn't going to cause the umps to change their mind. Like today, on that Frenchy foul ball ruled strike 3, Yost ran out there to save Frenchy, then asked the ump to check with the other umps. Apparently he wasn't 100% sure of his call, so he agreed to check. If he would have folded his arms and refused, getting yourself tossed wont do anything. Then when they reversed, Socia went out there screaming like a maniac, making himself look like a fool. What does getting tossed gain his team?

I agree with most of that BUT if Yost had gone out Friday on the called out at second and raised hell thus getting himself tossed he might've at least sent a message to this team that he's pissed and this crap is getting old.

It's infuriating they keep running him out there. If I didn't know better, I'd think the Royals were intentionally trying not to win with moves like this, ala Major League.....

Seriously, are there any winning teams in the majors with bats as weak as the Royals in the RF, 3B and 1st base positions?

DeezNutz 05-27-2013 09:31 AM

In 42 games, Baseball Reference has Frenchy rated as a -0.9 WAR player. That has to be an unprecedented pace for ineptitude.

Get David glass to put $20 million more into the team and I'll care more about changing managers. Otherwise you are just polishing a turd.

Noticed in today's star that Ned Yost got called into Glass's office this weekend. Gotta' hope that there were things said that put parameters on his continued employment.

And that could lead to the mounting evidence that will get Umps on an electronic leash. They can say it's there to help them, but either way bad calls should become less prevalent.

Bit of info on our 2 hitting coaches:

Andre David had 58 career AB's and hit .245 with 1 HR
Jack Maloof never had a major league AB

These are the guys GMDM and Yost brought in to get this team to hit for power.

KCinNY 05-27-2013 12:12 PM

Hosmer is on pace to hit 3 HRs this year....THREE!!!!

Manila-Chief 05-27-2013 03:24 PM

I was okay with Yost at the beginning of the season. I know players must play, but man this is disgusting. Terry Francona has made a big difference in Cleveland, so maybe it is time for a change.

I made the mistake of paying for MLB's ticket (or whatever it's called) on the expectation that at least they would be competitive. Now I wish I had my money back.

It's particular disgusting today ... because of some kind of network rules (living close to Memphis) I'm having to watch the Cardinals broadcast (although they have been kinda nice to the Royals). Plus seeing all the red in the stands makes it look like a St. Louis home game ... but, who can blame KC fans for not paying to watch this team ... promising, yes, but that is all it is ... empty promises. How can St. Louis always have a winner and we are not even good enough to be a loser?

MrGiggity 05-27-2013 04:33 PM

Another solid effort by the boys tonight.....13 hits. 12 of them singles.

gblowfish 05-27-2013 04:35 PM

David Glass has a smile today.

He's a lifelong Cardinals fan.

So, his team has the best record in baseball.

The saddest part is, that article could've been written before the game, simply inputting the score once the game went final.

I've been all about the Yost hate bandwagon since he was hired.

But do we really think Dayton deserves to hire Manager #3? Because I don't, unless it's an interim guy to finish out this season. My ideal scenario (other than Glass selling the team) involves Dayton getting fired & his replacement brings in a new manager ASAP. I just don't trust Dayton to get anything right at this point.

That said, something has to be done soon.

GloryDayz 05-29-2013 06:57 PM

Nope.

As long as the St. Louis Cardinals are winning, David Glass is LOVING baseball.

And the longer he holds onto his KC investment, the more money he'll make.

Ask him.

You'll have to call long distance to Bentonville, Arkansas to talk to him, though.
