It was okay, actually Kings Bounty is fairly decent but they all seem to feature the same boring combat mechanic. If the heroes series would change the combat up a bit it would be more interesting. I love the Combat from the old Master of Magic game..very similar to the Fallen Enchantress..

It took me like 3 attempts, each 30 turns deep to finally start understanding what was going on. Once I did, though, I couldn't stop. It's that whole "just one more turn" thing you get while playing Civ games. Time just melts away.

Counterstrike GO for 5 bucks flash sale, why not. Used to play the hell out of it before steam became prevalent.

I've heard that Eador: Genesis is really similar, though I don't know from experience. There's also one of those kickstarted games called Worlds of Magic that is apparently aiming to be as much of a sequel as possible.

Cool I'll check it out, and I hope Worlds of Magic becomes that. Enchantress/Elemental were supposed to be sequels..Elemental didn't work out and Enchantress has much more to it which may scare people away.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for $5.

Nightfyre 07-19-2013 01:33 PM

Just for those looking at the enhanced edition:

www.baldursgate.com
Dear Friends of Baldur's Gate,

We recently removed Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition from sale on Beamdog and the Apple App Store. We've taken this step at our publishing partner's request as we attempt to resolve a number of contractual issues.

Unfortunately, until this matter is resolved, we are unable to release the latest Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition patch or Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for Android.

This also prevents the launch of Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. I sincerely apologize to the series' fans and promise we are working diligently to remedy the situation.

Regards,
Trent Oster
President, Beamdog & Overhaul Games

FWIW, the original title(s) are available at gog.com

keg in kc 07-19-2013 02:50 PM

That's been going on for 6 or 7 weeks now as I recall.

The original titles are on gog, and are easily moddable (I actually just bought them a few weeks ago). But I also wouldn't sweat $5 for the EE. Especially if the situation with (I think) Atari gets worked out and we eventually see enhanced editions of other Infinity Engine titles, and the possibility of a Kickster Baldur's Gate 3, as remote as all of that looks right now.

Yea, that aspect doesn't bother me too much. Its the bugs that the reviews claim are in the EE that make me nervous.

I also used GoG to get Baldur's Gate 2. That's a great website.

keg in kc 07-19-2013 06:00 PM

There's a huge patch basically ready to go as soon as the publisher issues are worked out (if they're worked out).

I picked up a pack on GoG for $20 that has the entire BG series plus all dlc, IWD 1/2 complete, PS:T and NWN 1/2 complete. I was pretty happy. :D

hometeam 07-19-2013 07:14 PM

Already have the GoG version, but **** it. Baldurs Gate 5 bucks, easy access, no modding needed. Itll be fine~

Imon Yourside 07-20-2013 12:41 AM

Can steam do this?

I think NOT!

My goodness that is a great Pack!! I wish I would have noticed that.

I only bought Baldur's Gate 2 off of there because I didn't want to do a 6 disc install. Who does that anymore? lol.

hometeam 07-20-2013 09:03 AM

Im pretty sure I got the entire BG series off GoG, including SoA, and all the packs for 5 bucks. This was a few years ago but still.

KcMizzou 07-20-2013 06:55 PM

I just bought Civ 5 for $7.49 due to a Reddit thread about how addictive it is.

Is it a good idea to spend 5 more for the "Gold" upgrade while it's on sale? (Normally $20)

It's absolutely the kind of game where, provided you're not surrounded by distractions, you can sit down and then play for five hours without looking at the clock and then go "What the ****, it's 11:00?" Good stuff, and definitely worth the $7.50.

Just clicked on the link and realized that you read almost the exact same statement already, haha.

Too bad its not going to happen.

I guess it was on sale for a day to begin the steam sale, but it was a mistake I think. I didn't check in time or else I would have bought it then.

I already owned Gods and Kings, but I wanted all content, so I just paid the $5 to upgrade, and the $30 for the new expansion.

Can't wait for it to install. I know what I'm wasting my Sunday on.

If you like Endless Space you should check out StarDrive, great although it's realtime.

I have this problem. I either need a shooter with fierce multiplayer or an mmo or a game like diablo with long-term multiplayer implications to keep me interested anymore.

I've been playing MMOs solo for 15 years. You don't have to do any of the raiding or PvP if you don't want to. There's always plenty to do without it, and the gameworlds are immense and always growing. Which is why, like Pants, the Bethesda games never seem to engage me all that much. It's like having the grind part of an MMO without anything else.

keg in kc 07-22-2013 08:16 AM

I went a little crazy. :D

Alan Wake
BG: EE
LA Noire
New Vegas
Skyrim
Walking Dead
Torchlight 2
XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Skyrim was I think the only thing over 5-6 bucks though.

Nightfyre 07-22-2013 08:53 AM

This summer sale wasn't as good as last year's for me. I still got some good deals though. I picked up Defiance, Walking dead, torchlight 2, witcher 2 and civ 5: G&K.

Added Endless Space gold (been a while since I did a 4x space sim...) and Dishonored at the last minute.

Thank god they don't run it another week.

Frazod 07-22-2013 11:08 AM

Dishonored reminds me of the original Bioshock. Which is a good thing.

Pants 07-22-2013 09:01 PM

Here's my damage:

Alan Wake + DLC
Borderlands 2 + DLC
Bully: Scholarship Edition
Endless Space + DLC (extremely happy I got this)
Hotline Miami
Serious Sam 3: BFE
Sleeping Dogs
Tomb Raider
Worms Revolution

Decent haul, but I guess I forgot to grab Dishonored. Oh well.

I definitely understand that viewpoint, but when I played MMOs (WoW mostly, with some TOR thrown in near the end), it got to the point that I didn't enjoy playing casually and being surrounded by people with better gear, higher PvP ranks, etc. I didn't enjoy myself unless I was better than almost everyone else, but the process of doing so took too much time and was endlessly stressful due to the ever-improving competition.

Now that I literally can't regularly devote parts of my day to raiding or organized PvP, the single-player RPGs like Skyrim allow me to get that sense of progression and fun without having to worry about falling behind because I have to work late or go would prefer to go on a date.

To each their own, though; if your social group supports it and your work is flexible, I think that MMOs can probably be reasonably integrated into a normal person's life.

Canofbier 07-22-2013 09:20 PM

I ended up buying:

Civ V: Gold Edition
Civ V: Brave New World (when it was mistakenly on sale for $20)
Castle Crashers (more fun than I thought it would be, need to find some people to play with)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (which I can't play yet because of a broken thumb)

I also came pretty close to buying Witcher 2 when it was on sale, but ultimately decided that I wasn't going to buy two third person action games when I'm not really capable of playing any at all for another month or two. If I want it so badly later on, I can just pay the extra $5, no biggie.

Steam's Weekly Top Sellers - briefly
(hx) 05:44 PM EDT - Jul,28 2013 - Post a comment
Here are the ten top selling titles on Steam for the week as reported by Valve:

1.Shadowrun Returns
2.The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition
3.Civilization V: A Brave New World
4.Civilization V Gold Edition
5.BioShock Infinite
6.Borderlands 2
7.Kerbal Space Program
8.Dishonored
9.Prison Architect
10.Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Who buys Prison Architect? That has to be a misprint....WTF is wrong with people?

keg in kc 07-29-2013 04:57 PM

Pretty hilarious, I bought all those games and haven't played anything but SWTOR.

Javabean 07-29-2013 05:07 PM

I almost bought Prison Architect. I had heard it was repulsively bad, and for $5 or whatever it was, I kind of wanted to experience the horror for myself.

I ended up getting Saints Row The Third for $7. What a great game. I'd played it when it came out on the X-Box, and it was just as much fun the second time. Can't wait for the fourth one next month.

I'm regretting not getting BioShock Infinite, the last Tomb Raider game, or Kerbel Space Program when they were under $10. I've been playing SWTOR again, and that's been fun, but I wish I'd bought more during the sale since I've heard great things about some of those games.

Looks a lot like the old SNES game... which was awesome. I'm now even more curious.

Kind of -- think of a B movie that instead of being corny and fun tries to tackle a complex subject with a higher moral purpose and fails miserably.

For example, in the tutorial, you have to build an execution chamber to kill a prisoner. While you're doing that, it shows you flashbacks of the prisoner killing his wife after catching her in bed with another man, and then it shows the priest consoling him and making you out to be the bad guy.

In a better game, this could be a really good story hook, but here they present this with a kind of slapstick humor instead of any kind of delicacy, and it's pretty jarring.

The comparison I've heard is it feels like playing Super Columbine Massacre RPG.

Ultimately, I decided I didn't want to spend any money on that. Hopefully, since it's still in alpha (or maybe beta now?), they fix that.
