I had better stuff to do when I went through puberty...like chase tail. The fact that he spent it in his parent's basement reading studiously in an effort to circumvent his latest perma-ban explains a lot---like he did it wrong.

In the early days I don't think the ChiefsPlanet IT guys could stop gochiefs. He could find a way around.
Nowadays gochiefs provides some good to the board. Yeah you may not like his takes, but he spawns a lot of conversation. The videos that he makes are very good. He definitely has talent there.
As far as Phobia and him gochiefs go...As I recall Phobia did give gochiefs a chance or 2, Phil tries to be a good guy, that gochiefs probably should not have been given.
As a fly on the wall and a part time poster back then, almost 10 years ago. I thought, not saying I am right, that Phobia actually helped Clay get a part-time gig with Nick Athan. IIRC Phobia and Athan had a falling out, later Athan was proven to be an asshat. Gochiefs kept pimping Athan and trying to blame Phobia for whatever happened.
It has appeared to me that Phil has not take up for Clay since that time frame.
Phobia is just a moderator when it comes to Pam Oliver's Forehead anymore. From my observation anyway.
Not withstanding the occasional name change that he does to a lot of posters in good fun for the board.

Nah - I was fine with Clay for a year or more after leaving WPI. Eventually I grew weary of his antics for one reason or another. It wasn't any one thing. I was happy for his involvement at WPI and he was an asset for me there. I'm glad he's used it as a stepping stone to better things. He has some talents, no doubt. The only person I had bad blood with over WPI was Nick. I'm still friends with Nick's old "boss" there.

You obviously had influences outside of CP. I think there's a difference between being here during a period of your life, and defining that period of your life because of this place.

That does sound vaguely familiar. I'm thinking that went down during my "hiatus" period.

I have been up and down with Clay's existence on this board. Mostly down. But he has periods where he appears to be rehabilitating himself. Right now is one of those times. Funny though, I swore I was finished giving him a chance almost two years ago when he turned on you over the Hootie banning. Looking back on it he might have just been up to his usual trolling. It still pissed me off though after the way you had taken him under your wing. I guess to some degree I share that trait with you where if you see someone actually trying it is hard not to want to encourage and even help them.

Still, had I been more aware of the CrazyHorse story I wouldn't have even bothered responding to CR. I can't blame him for his feelings towards Clay.

I did but, do not underestimate the impact this place had on me during ose years. I was very straight laced, conservative and reserved. The first time I ever joked about doing drugs was on this board during the All Idiot Team craze. It was just a joke but, I felt wrong about making it. That was me back in the day. To make a joke about something like that was dark territory. Yet I did make it, and that is due to this place. The Planet was crucial in opening up my personality.

It helped open up gochiefs' personality as well, it was just a much different personality. Which is why I maintain it has less (I will not say zero) to do with where you are in your life and more of who and what you are.
