The Detroit Lions select Darqueze Dennard, CB, MSU.
Would have liked Mack or Barr but since they are gone CB is the pick.

The Titans lost their top CB to Tampa Bay but get a potential true number 1 CB here that has both good size (6-0, 202) and speed (4.37/40 at the combine).

The Tennessee Titans select Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State.

TambaBerry 04-03-2014 07:19 AM

Wow both corners off that fast.

Updated to the Titans pick.

The Franchise 04-03-2014 09:14 AM

Not a fan of the Bills pick....but that's just me. RTs in the top 10 are horrible picks. :D

chiefscafan 04-03-2014 09:18 AM

Was hoping Gilbert was gonna fall no surprises yet except Bortles number one. All three qbs went early so right now pretty much nobody taking a gamble yet.

Direckshun 04-03-2014 09:19 AM

Jason Verrett could end up being the best of the three.

Only thing he doesn't have is height.

chiefscafan 04-03-2014 09:21 AM

Yeah but he's strong in tape , he's shut down some of the big receivers in college football.

I'm not a HUGE fan of where the OTs went so far. If I was the Bucs....I would have grabbed someone like Evans. McCown succeeds when he has tall receivers who he can throw it up to. Jackson and Evans would have given him those WRs. The Bills could have gone any number of different ways.

chiefscafan 04-03-2014 09:30 AM

You also have to wonder did Johnny football make Matthews better with his running ability. But good genes in that Matthews family. I like evans and with Stevie Johnson that would have been a great duo. Evans won't last much longer though.

the Talking Can 04-03-2014 09:37 AM

best thread of the year, even if it started out like a back alley abortion

chiefscafan 04-03-2014 09:51 AM

Should be interesting how the rest of this draft goes from here on out.

Direckshun 04-03-2014 11:03 AM

Time for Godfather Noob.

chiefscafan 04-03-2014 11:04 AM

So direkshun do you think this three qbs first ten picks will go like this.

Direckshun 04-03-2014 11:05 AM

What's the Giant tackle situation? Do thy have an LT?

They could go Lewan here. Or WR. Or DL.

No, but I do think they go in the top ten.

I think Bridgewater and Manziel fall out of the top three.

RealSNR 04-03-2014 11:09 AM

I really wanted Aaron Donald, but the Vikings just drafted Floyd for their 3-tech.

It was also too high to go with Nix.

Either player should be in play here for the Giants.

They drafted Pugh last year. Schwartz will more than likely be their RT this year and they signed a bunch of interior OL in FA. I bet they go d-line since Joseph and Tuck left this offseason.

Direckshun 04-03-2014 11:17 AM

Donald and Floyd would have been a blast, but yeah, pretty much exact same player. You can probably run them over, too.

TambaBerry 04-03-2014 11:20 AM

I'd say Giants go Ebron or Evans.

Sfeihc 04-03-2014 11:27 AM

Thanks, Godfather Noob throwing this thing into a complete halt. Can't bold, can't pm, can't forward a top five picks list for the G-Men to somebody. Does anybody here even think Evans is that great of a receiver?

He got a high % of his receptions on comebacks while Manziel was running figure 8s in the backfield.

i may be spooked by baldwin, but i'd feel safer with Beckham

The Franchise 04-03-2014 12:27 PM

His fit is in an offense where they throw him jump balls or let him use his size to gain an advantage. I don't see him as a fit for our offense or our QB.

Sfeihc 04-03-2014 12:30 PM

With Megatron I felt adding Evans would be redundant. Now Sammy on the other hand.....

Has Hoover been in the CP draft before? I don't remember. I'm not going to fault someone for 12 hours. People work different schedules and aren't on here as much as you and I are.

The joke is we're a dozen picks in after 2.5 days. You do raise an excellent point because humor is about all we have left to deal with this debacle.

It's rather ironic in a society that is so wired we're basically sending ravens from all over Westeros to make our picks.;)

If the picks fall like this in real life, it's setting up for the Chiefs to smash that 23 slot.

1. I don't think Snead/Fisher want a WR at 2 after a recent interview regarding taking one at 2.

2. Fisher is building up the DL. Clowney is one of the best DL prospects since 2000, IMO, and probably the best since Suh in 2010.

3. The Rams secondary is a work in progress. As of right now, CB is very thin, but I don't know if they believe Johnson/Jenkins can up their game and I wonder if they will address that position later on or at 13(Gilbert was the guy if Marco didn't take him). S is also a need, McLeod is a great depth guy who can play S(and CB, when needed), but he's just an average starter.

4. I think OL isn't as glaring of a need with Saffold re-signing. I think they'll draft a guard and/or a tackle at some point in the draft, but isn't as huge of a need, IMO. Barksdale is solid at RT, and whenever Long comes back, Saffold will move into G. In the mean time, while Long is out, Saffold will be the LT. And I don't think Fisher/Snead would draft an OL at 2 just to solve a problem in the short term.

What more can they do, though?

Tavon/Givens/Bailey/Quick/Pettis have all been drafted since 2011. Tavon and Bailey made huge strides, IMO. Whether WR will be a need is if Quick doesn't develop.

Thanks for the breakdown. Is that it for picks from the RG3 trade? If so, how do you like the haul from the trade?

The 2nd overall pick is the last pick from the RG3 trade, yes.

I think the trade is great, IMO. I still think Bradford can be the answer(while no many fans don't, and there were some irrational dumb ****s who said Clemens>Bradford :shake:) but I still think the trade will work out for the Rams in the long run, regardless of Bradford's and RG3's performance.

TambaBerry 04-03-2014 05:33 PM

I think this choice is pretty obvious, Phil Emery needs to complete his overhaul of his defensive line that got gauged by running backs last year. I think this guy will help them a lot with that. The Chicago Bears select Aaron Donald DT Pittsburgh
This pick was going to be Clinton Dix, but he was taken. I also thought about Ryan Shazier but Donald is to good to pass up.

The Franchise 04-03-2014 05:35 PM

Good God.....that Chicago defensive line would be ****ing nasty.

Direckshun 04-03-2014 05:39 PM

What's the Chicago DL depth chart?
