But yes, Ned has had his share of blunders.

Ned is not a good manager. However, too many only judge on hindsight when correct moves are made but bad outcomes happen, you blame that on the player. Had Crow given up some runs, plenty would have put that on Ned when Crow was the obvious call that inning. It's just something I've noticed on here. No one wants to state if they like moves when they are made. Only bitching after the fact.

Just trying to be fair, there are worst managers in MLB.

Ned's an average manager - not great, not horrible either.

Dude, seriously? If he was a good manager then Milwaukee would not have fired him a month before the playoff run he lead them to.

That's Milwaukee Pete. Maybe they have higher standards than the Royals. Ned is sadly one of the better managers the Royals have had in the past few decades. He's average, which is good for Royals managers.

Horrible managers are the Trey Hillmans, Tony Muser, Tony Penas, Bob Boones of the world. Yost is your average MLB manager.

Sure, but he also gets blamed for more shit that should be more related to just plain shitty players.

Anyway, is this really Kelvin???

Ok, let him face one more then you might have to bail. 40 pitches for a flame thrower and it's getting scary.

To be fair, not all of that Brewers collapse was on Ned, some of it was on the players. But the majority? Yes, he claims to have learned from that, Only time will tell. So far, I'm not convinced.

But who is worst, Ned or Ron Washington ?

ChiefsCountry 05-30-2014 08:08 PM

Ball game.

And you would have wanted another pitcher in our bullpen to get work with two games left to play this series. Bad manager, Pete.

How is that using hindsight? I agreed with having Kelvin pitch to one more batter, just like Ned. Turns out he and I were right and didn't have to waste another pitcher from the bullpen. You can't find it in your tight ass to see when Ned actually makes a correct move.

They have been doing that to me for awhile. The thing is that I've been following them since 1971 & they are embedded into me. I was spoiled for too long with them too. I never thought they'd finish lower than 2nd place in my lifetime.

Given our ability to play better against better talent....I like our chances!

SPATCH 05-30-2014 08:15 PM

Shaking up the coaching staff always gives a team a shot in the arm. We'll see if the offense can still hit once the shine wears off on that.

That, and this offense was so ****ing bad it HAD to get better just on its own. Toronto + the coaching change was as good a time as any. Yeah, let's see how long it lasts.

I'm not trying to say Ned is good and he has cost us some games. But no where near the 20-25 games that CP seems to think he loses us every year!

I'm really curious how this all works. So they just totally say **** it to the guy who was coaching them and all of a sudden for two games they looks like different players. Surely it's just coincidence and not a real adjustment already...is it? I mean, that other coach is still in the dugout and what not, and probably still coaching a bit.

No way. We are 1/3 of the way through the season. This team has to show me a sustained stretch where they score at league average or above. Until proven otherwise, this is merely a two game aberration.

They most likely got a bit of a reality check because they know they are the reason the coach was canned or moved in this case.

It's just like when a struggling team gets a new manager. The monotony is broken and the players get a boost. It's purely psychological and it doesn't last terribly long.

KC_Connection 05-30-2014 08:27 PM

You guys get our top prospect pitcher in his first MLB start tomorrow instead of one of our better pitchers who is getting pushed back to face the Tigers due to fatigue. The Royals will no doubt mash him like they've somehow been doing against the Jays all year.
