chiefsfan987 06-26-2014 11:32 AM

Also there is no benefit to "stalling", the time will be added to the clock.

we need to score. If we don't then with our luck, Ghana will score at the last possible moment.

highBOLTage 06-26-2014 11:37 AM

Good thing the Ghana player was wearing his underwear. Wouldve put on a show for everyone thanks to Portugal pants pulling.

Thats what the TV announcer said.

Germany scoring doesn't matter as long as Ghana doesn't win. Ghana wins 2-1 and the score stays the same with us at 1-0, Ghana advances.

So he was wrong?

ShowtimeSBMVP 06-26-2014 11:38 AM

POR SCORED................ 2-1

If Ghana wins 2-1 and we lose 1-0, we're out.

This is freaking huge. Ghana has about 10 minutes to score at least 2 goals, and Portugal has about 10 minutes to score at least 3 goals.

I don't think either of them can do it.

edit: this also changes if we give up more goals. Our defense needs to stand strong.

Strategically we now need to pull back, turtle up, and keep it 1-0

Yeah but I for one was real nervous when Ghana equalized

ShowtimeSBMVP 06-26-2014 11:48 AM

4 mins added in Por game.

alnorth 06-26-2014 11:49 AM

OK now I think its safe to say that both sides are taking it easy. The USA had to play most of the game and Germany had to make it look good, but now theres almost no reason to take any risks.

Old Dog 06-26-2014 11:49 AM

Hopefully Jozy will be back for the next game

Yeah even to somebody like me who doesn't know shit about soccer can see that the Germany who started the game until they got that first goal is a different team now, seems to be coasting now.

Ebolapox 06-26-2014 11:52 AM

that was exciting for a minute

Old Dog 06-26-2014 11:53 AM

nice ball by Bradley

alnorth 06-26-2014 11:53 AM

OK, no more of this playing for a draw or close loss nonsense. We now need to win 4 games. It won't happen, but we may as well try.

1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss (to one of the top 5 teams in the world) is hardly backing in.

It's not the same. You still have to win to squeak into the playoffs. They won 1 out of 3 games. Thats a hard concept for Americans to grasp.

Predarat 06-26-2014 11:59 AM

Kansas City representing HUGE on those outside shots.

Yeah, I'm not knowledgable either, but the soccer experts all over the world who know more than me all proclaimed our group the "group of death", that we got a very rough draw, and that we probably wouldn't make it out.

So, making it out seems to be an accomplishment.

Only people with minimal brain power fail to see how well the US did in the group stage. There is no such thing as backing in to the knockout round

This is also a great day for Jürgen Klinsmann. At this point for at least the next decade he's probably going to be the USMNT coach for as long as he wants to be.
