In a "pro style" offense makes me laugh these days. This isn't the Al Saunders days in the NFL. NFL teams don't even run a pro style offense. They've adapted to the way college football is played to suit the QB. I couldn't care less about Winston in a pro style offense.

While that is trur, therr are still things you've got to be able to do to succeed in the nfl. He does them

It's really long but a great read

Basically says if not for the off field stuff, says he's on par as a prospect with Luck

Sweet Daddy Hate 01-01-2015 06:31 PM

Having a upper-tier prospect like Winston fighting it out with Murray and Bray would make me feel a lot better about the future of the offense, and possibly make me tolerate The Spleen somewhat better.

That said,

1) Reid would just **** it up in some way, shape, or form.

2) Winston just isn't home-spun enough for Lil' Chiefy. Hell, I remember the outrage when it was suggested that Vick might come to KC. Lil' Chiefy needs his nice, dull white bread behind the Center's large ass.

MahiMike 01-01-2015 06:41 PM

The difference between these 2 QBs is like Andrew Luck vs Cam Newton. On one hand, you have a cerebral, well-spoken guy that would have no problem learning the play book. On the other hand, you have a guy with raw, natural talent that just makes plays.

Hamwallet 01-01-2015 06:42 PM

God wins football games for him. I'll take any help we can get at this point.

He's cleared on rape, student union charge was bogus. You've got two theft incidents. That's not a series. Sorry but I disagree.

Oh really, you compare Winston to Hitler now. You're gonna drag politics into this? Now if I respond to how irrelevant Godwin's law is, I will be blasted for making a political comment in the Lounge. But here goes:

"memetic tool to reduce the incidence of inappropriate hyperbolic comparisons."
I'm the one trying to reduce the hyperbolic comparisons not some of the others here. That's one reason why it's not relevant, the other is he's an athlete playing football—not a political leader of a government that is armed to the teeth which can crush and murder others.

I don't consider that turnover to be his fault... when you're down, and your team is in a situation where you're forced to go for it on 4th down, and then your O line collapses immediately, bad things happen.

Aside from that? He's thrown for 350 yards at a 66% completion rate today, all from the pocket, and not a very good one at that. It's not his fault his defense gave up 60 points, or that everyone around him turned the ball over.

If you want to hitch a ride to the "Lets irrationally hate Jameis Winston, and ignore what actually happened in the game" wagon, then knock yourself out.

Hootie 01-01-2015 07:43 PM

lmao one game where his team had like 4 unforced fumbles and a tipped ball INT and now he sucks

rabblerouser 01-01-2015 07:46 PM

It's the whole package that sucks. Not just one game. The one game is a microcosm; spurts of tantalizing potential sandwiched between dumpster fire after dumpster fire..

If you don't want to see that, then go ahead and keep the Rose (Bowl) colored glasses on.

Agreed. He earned a little grudging respect from me for that. Though really that's just doing the normal thing and is more a testament to the low class and lack of character of the overall FSU program than a positive for Winston.

Winston can play. The problems he's going to bring whatever team drafts him have less to do with his on field ability than the ticking time bomb of his character issues. Ryan Leaf, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton. Have we learned nothing about spotting red flags?

Hammock Parties 01-01-2015 07:58 PM
