I get tired of that shit "Oh the next thing will be better, sometimes it will, sometimes it won't. " Everyone told me I was going to land a better gig and that didn't happen. I went on their facebook page and posted on their page that they are moron liars and I hope santa's raindeer **** them with their aids dicks.

MikeMaslowski has presented an opportunity to me through IM. Thought I'd let everyone know that he's cool beans.
Thanks a bunch sir. I'll check it out! |
Sorry to hear it man. Hang tough.

I'm all good financially. It's just an odd thing to have happened. And I 'knew' it was going to happen. I just knew it somehow. Bad Luck Brian. |

Sorry, Dave. That's understandably annoying about the cert. Though I suppose it can't hurt in the job search.
On the upside, it sounds like you're in a pretty good place. Masters degree, work experience, a couple of months notice plus a likely severance. Good luck |
Sorry to hear, edave.

I think you have a blatant case of racism. Talk to a lawyer.

if you were into small town living, with a masters in IT and a PMP, you could easily slip into a GM role at a ntca backed indep telco. The rules are changing, so if you aren't hung up on pots lines, you would have a career for as long as you wanted.

I called to tell them I might switch providers, so they offered me $59.99/month for 2 years for 100 mbps speed. I was paying $73.99/month for 50 mbps. Hope your day is going as well as mine! |

I've accepted but will be moving forward with finding a new gig anyway as it should never have come to this, IMO. This course of action was my rebuttal to them when I first got the news. Vailpass has been very very cool with his headhunter lead. Hope to play off salary offers and/or move above Project/Program Management. Thanks BRC. |

I'm getting close to taking the first perm job I've had in 12 years or so. 5 interviews in and its looking good. Everyone seems happy with the tech and what I bring to the table. Could be happy there. Maybe a chance to get off the contracting merry go round. Still got an interview with the European branch and a face to face somewhere to go. |

Thanks a bunch srvy. Appreciate your response. |

Benefits through a contracting company make up any difference. So my options are wide open. But the WAH is pretty sweet. |
Quote:
of course thats direct tv and they are instructed to act stupid |

Contracting got me where I am. It really gets a bad name. People don't take contracting jobs because they want more stability. But, it's an illusion. They can still get rid of you at any time. Priorties change. Business needs change. Downsizing, merges etc. Nothing to do with your job performance and you can be out on your ass. This job would be a raise from the contracting salaries I've worked at since down here in Florida. Most money I've ever possibly made. Serious visible position with a global Fortune 150 company. Top 5 admired company. Kind of excited to get out of the contracting game for a change. So its probably going to blow up.:D |

Got me where I am too. There is the saying, the best way to move up is to move on. But the ceiling has been met for me K-wise. But I do advise all my friends that lose their jobs to pursue contracting. That's where the hiring is. Adapt to it. But... settling in somewhere is really nice. This 'stick and move' thing just doesn't allow you to really, really shine. Learning the FTE politics is easy since as a PM you always deliver and have all encompassing skills. |
